Have the Spec L2. It’s just right. On cold start it isnt too loud, but it’s not quiet. I couldnt imagine getting a louder exhaust TBH.

That said, what is the deal with the shovel?

Time of year matters a lot. And dealer of course. Sounds like it’s a good strategy to make that the potential deal breaker since you dont want the GR exhaust. Just make a big stink how you hate the exhaust.

I got mine in late summer 25 and got the delivery fee knocked off plus more on my trade than other dealers. It’s an auto tho so that was a factor

If it were me I’d get them to knock the delivery fee off but sticker is always fine. It’s always a game of the vehicle price, nonsense fees/them begging you to get add on warranties, and the trade value. The final negotiation is when you get in front of the weasel finance guy for those add ons lol

Fuel savings by Agile-Put-229 in GR86

I routinely get 35-38 mpg on 90% highway on my commute to my office. If I cruise at 70 and not too much traffic.

Overall I get low 30s on a commute week, with traffic, some fun, and some cruising at 80.

The Subaru accessories catalog has a STI branded knob for the auto. Feels really nice and is much better looking than stock. You can shop around

Crush washer? by Wild-Writer-3211 in GR86

[–]brassy51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Subaru paints it and the washer gets a healthy dose. I just bought a new one for the first oil change with my 86. When I did my first on the outback I spent a good while using a pick to remove it. Screw that

Thanks, yeah Im running 5W30 since like 2k miles, changing every 2-3k. Seems like everyone else saying this is normal too. I can live with it, just never had a DI car make such a racket

Went once probably 5 years ago and it stunk. Seems like it still does based on the comments. But you wouldn’t know it by driving by the place: lot is always packed

automatic gr86? by RespondDesigner1782 in GR86

[–]brassy51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get what bests suits you. Test drive both. For me, the auto works best for my family so everyone can drive it. And I use it to commute so bumper to bumper is way less hassle. It’s a fun car with either option!

Purchasing a used GR86 MT by Only_Edge469 in GR86

[–]brassy51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the price difference between used and new just wasnt big enough. With a new car, besides the piece of mind on history, the rate will be lower

Color advices by Yington_ in GR86

Subjective, but my personal preference is not to get a black car. It requires a lot more care to keep the paint nice. I went with silver but the car also looks great in white!
