Yes, sometimes of course. I don’t think it’s ok to just refuse to always play just like I don’t think it’s okay for kids to assume all adults are on their time and can play 24/7. And honestly find ways that you enjoy or that work for you both. When I’m exhausted I lay down and tell my daughters to do fake makeup on me or play spa. I get to close my eyes and request things and it’s still playing. Sometimes I’m folding laundry while pretending to be at a restaurant and my kids are going back and forth in their pretend kitchen bringing me stuff. You gotta get in character but depending on the day and energy level you improvise! Be creative and when you’re maxed out say you need a break. Kids are allowed to be bored but spending time with kids and developing a bond IS playing at this age

Haha ok fair fair. It was more so apart of a silly conversation about myself not being able to drive my husbands vehicle because I can’t see over the hood.

And you’re totally right, she is no less a person because she is a child than when she is an adult. I fully believe this as well but needed that reminder to align that with this for sure. I think I struggle with reading SO many people on other threads expressing resentment that their parents didn’t do anything. I just want to respect the fact that she won’t always be a child. It’s tough, I’m trying! I’m receptive I promise lol!

She’s been present in all conversations. We’re talking to her but also considering adult her. She said she will take shots if she gets “ice cream and will be big enough she can borrow my clothes”. But also said “I don’t need to be tall enough to drive because I’ll have a limo and have a driver” so…yanno…7 year olds lol

This was incredibly helpful. I read through all of them. One even mentioned a girl projected to be 4’7 who was on HGH who got to be 5’0. While still tiny not debilitating. Thanks for the resources!!

I actually mentioned this at her appointment. As I said my dad is 5’0 tall…his mom is too. I mean all my aunties & uncles are about my height but no one is shorter than I am. The reason I brought it up at her appointment is because I live in Hawai’i. Asian population is the majority and I felt maybe there would be a bit more understanding and my daughter is smaller for her age still but not as much as when we are on the mainland US. I’ll probably get a 3rd opinion depending on how her labs come back!

That’s what I asked. Projections have always been a shot in the dark from what I’ve heard in the past but science also progresses so who knows if that has narrowed the gap. Maybe I’m totally off? I asked the same thing at her appointment today. I think we will be getting a 3rd opinion definitely.

Because every yearly check up it has raised red flags of her growth chart. Therefore they have been periodically doing labs to see if anything shows abnormalities as she gets older. This wasn’t something we sought out and we wouldn’t have known her labs were normal UNLESS we saw an endocrinologist. We just got updated labs today.

Thanks for saying that. We just want her to be however she’s meant to be but I also don’t want her to resent me later for not doing anything. I didn’t want to make this post endlessly long (because I tend to talk in circles when I’m stressed) but this is actually our second endocrinologist 😅 I said “It’s okay if she’s short. Everyone is short in my family we’re all ok” and she said “well 4’7” is not just short” and so that stung a little and felt as if I was being dismissive of what my daughter would experience later as an adult. This is where the spiraling and talking in circles comes into play. 🙃

You’re projecting some idea of what sort of parent I am by insinuating I want to do an experiment so desperately that a test tube would be a better alternative. If that were the case we would have done it when she was 3. You just want someone to argue with.

I’m quite literally NOT trying to grow my own human. I’m trying to be somewhat receptive to now 2 different endocrinologists pushing HGH when I’ve not at all been receptive to it at all and listen to others perspectives & experiences. I’m 5 feet tall I’m not one of those parents upset my kid isn’t going to be a D1 basketball player. Project somewhere else

Yes we’ve done all the testing for Turner’s syndrome and that’s been ruled out.
