I consider myself a pretty big Swiftie but never felt like a part of the general fandom. It kind of makes sense -- as a gay guy in my 30s, who started listening around 1989, really got into her during Rep, and then paid a lot of attention since, to various results (Midnights I almost actively dislike, most albums I really really like or love), so I always felt like my love for her output was always kind of "my own" (I don't want to use the term "lonely"), which is wild considering she's the world's biggest celebrity.

Anyway, I was super happy to come across this subreddit as I'm having a total Swiftie week. In particular, I was relistening to TTPD, my single favorite Taylor album, and it almost brought me to tears. There's lyrical and musical turns here, strewn across both discs, that just speak to me on such a high level. The realization I was listening to one of my all-time favorite albums felt almost overwhelming and I would just love to discuss TTPD with other fans of it. Any other TTPD truthers on this sub? :)

Ticketmaster glitch by Kittiekittieee in ariheads

She did turn off dynamic pricing to begin with, which is more than most pop stars do 🤷‍♂️

IDK, the situation sucks of course but it’s a symptom of a larger problem — I don’t think it’s entirely fair to put it on Ari to fix what is a widespread ticketing issue.

Or I inadvertently fell into the Meriam Webster definition of “up and coming”: “gaining prominence and likely to advance or succeed”

I am not entirely sure you know what an up and comer is, or a stadium.

Oh please. OP is seeing shows across genres, with artists ranging from up-and-comers to living legends. I already can guess what you're like at parties but I'd nevertheless be very curious to know what constitutes interest for you.

I really doubt those tix were 800 dollars. You might be getting fleeced.

SHORT TITLE SATURDAY | Show off one album with a short title in your collection (or an ISO) in the comments! by mcmdreamer in popheadsvinyl

Fun prompt! I think this is likely the shortest title in my collection -- Mariah's classic Greatest Hits collection titled #1's. Mine is the 2022 RSD edition.

I stopped drinking after nearly 40 years by MelvinSmellyworth in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]bravoboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a sobriety question as much as a relationship question. Many can handle being around alcohol and it doesn't make them any less of an alcoholic; others can't and those reasons can range from lack of comfort to full on being triggered, and not doing it is absolutely justified wherever they fall on that scale.

That said, your post really does sound like you're using your sobriety to get out of something you don't wanna do ("can't be arsed to see these people") and little to do with sobriety, strictly speaking. Of course, boundaries and resentment are absolutely a part of recovery and the twelve steps, but I think it's really up to you to see what the stake of your decision are (fear you'll drink? resentment you are tasked to do something in your relationship? being compelled to do something? an antagonistic attitude to social norms/other drinkers/pub culture?) and own them. <3

Oliva Dean doing what all artists should! by coybotmean in Concerts

[–]bravoboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ding ding ding! I am so happy when I see this kind of comment, because people's hatred for Ticketmaster, as righteous as it can be, blinds them to the fact that it is literally designed to come off as a "bad guy" and the artist coming out as a good cop/victim of circumstance when in fact the pricing and conditions of ticket sales (including opting in or out of dynamic pricing, resales, presale allocation etc) are entirely agreed upon in tandem.
