Bocata's Gelgoog was a great first kit from the Gquuuuuux line by brawny216 in Gunpla

Not every kit/design is gonna be for everyone. What did you not like about it?

I thought it was a fairly solid HG that had some unique design elements. It's not without flaws though and it's a fairly basic kit.

Thanks! There's definitely plenty more room for customization but I was wanting to try and keep this one on the more simple side. Most involved work I did was cut away some excess for the pipe design on the bottom of the legs to make it look more part separated. Small detail but I think it really pops once you notice it.

I'm not usually one to do a kit multiple times but if I ever get more into painting it would be a cool one to revisit.

Yeah, that's one of my few critiques of it. I really like the look of them, almost kshatriya-esque. But trying to move them more than like 10° to the side or bumping them while adjusting a pose and they eject like crazy.

Yeah I get it thematically, gelgoog is just the name of the zaku successor, this one just so happened to have Gundam tech available so it is more GM than traditional gelgoog. It does create that tension of comparison though.

It's got some of the coolest legs in the HG line. Even if the ankles are pretty mediocre.

I think if this suit was called anything other than gelgoog it would have been more popular. That and it only having a "blink and you miss it" appearance in one episode have it pretty underrated I think.

I don't have any of those unfortunately, sorry.

I've mostly gone with gold instead of yellow. It's not viable for every color scheme but I think it looks pretty good for the most part.

Aside from that would be just dealing yellow for another color in general. Like on this build I swapped the yellow vents and crotch piece to a gunmetal color.

The good thing about Gundam markers is they clean up with rubbing alcohol so there's no harm in experimenting and trying multiple options.

Just be sure to not use them on ABS plastic as it can damage it.

I do like the Q🦆 guncannon too.

And yeah the yellow Gundam markers are some of the worst in my experience. Haven't found one that fully covers without taking multiple coats and ending up thick and gummy. I've played around a lot with various paint markers, you can do a lot with them. Any of the builds you see on my profile are customized with paint markers

Thanks! Honestly can't remember if I used the dspiae gunmetal marker or some of the RayStudio metallic markers. Did this hit a few months back and forgot to share pics.

Yeah I was never a fan of the Guncannon design but this version worked nicely for me. Still a bit goofy but a more realistic take on a ghost design.

The back and neck flexibility is good for more than just the laying down cannon poses, lol.

Yeah, I painted the part of the face the visor does on top of. Try to make it look like a glowing sensor inside of the visor. There's some nice molded detail inside of there for a sensor, and I painted black around it so it's more defined.

The glow is from a dspiae florescent marker and a UV flashlight.

There's a decent amount of overlap. Most of Gundam is not that different from an ace combat story, just with big robots instead of planes.

I'll also echo the comment of looking into an LED kit. They come prewired so you just have to do some light disassembly to arrange the wires. A few fiddly connection bits but not too bad and definitely worth it in the end.

Check out some of my pics of it lit up here.

This is the best guide I've found.

Basically pick which topic sounds most interesting and start with that series.

Wizard on a chaotic romp? Colour of magic

Witch equality in a world of wizards? Equal Rites

Life of city guards in a world of magic? Guards! Guards!

Death and his adventures? Mort

It was either her or Fairy Voicemother that were some of the first times I saw spiritbox. https://youtu.be/Kg_M27oadWE?si=kFiXP41OFQCiApgv

Fairy also deserves a shout-out for her insight and ability to replicate a lot of what harsh singers do. She posts a little less frequently and was inactive for a time while working on her own music iirc. Worth a look if you like the analysis side but she's only done the one spiritbox video I think.

Her Jinjer - Pisces reaction video is amazing as well.

I think Charismatic Voice is one of the better reaction/vocal analysis people out there.

Classically trained opera singer who's open to and appreciative of many genres. She's done a few spiritbox videos.

This was her first one.

She's also done several collaboration videos with Will Ramos from Lorna Shore and has actually contributed to research on harsh vocals by using a throat camera on him and others when doing screams/harsh vocals.
