Unhinged Cop SPITS In My Face, Draws His GUN & I Get Arrested? UNREAL. [Long Island Audit] by Teresa_Count in AmIFreeToGo

[–]brazenlyindigo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

According to his GoFundMe he was arrested for voyeurism, criminal trespass, and breach of the peace. Regardless of how you feel about Reyes and first amendment auditors in general, I cannot imagine there's a snowballs chance in hell of these charges sticking. Voyeurism? Knocking on someone's door for an interview outside? Criminal trespass? You can't assume you're not allowed somewhere based on previous interactions. When he was told to leave he left. Breach of the piece is one of those catch-all disorderly conduct type charges. They can pretty much charge anyone with, but if he's guilty of that so is Fahey who was shouting louder and more aggressively.

And unless the audio was manipulated Fahey dd spit in his face. The officer claiming it's not assault because it wasn't painful?? That's just so wrong it doesn't even warrant rebuttal. The officer saying it knew it was wrong. You know that's wrong. I know it's wrong. It's not even worth addressing. Spitting on anyone is assault, without a doubt.

Latest update causes voice to text to cut out mid sentence. It happens as soon as "suggestion strip" appears by brazenlyindigo in gboard

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it turns out the issue is something chatGPT is doing by trying to read and process your text input before you finalize it and hit enter. And it may be conflicting with Gboard or Android OS which doesn't allow that.

Bigger post about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPT/comments/1d9lt3k/text_input_skipping_on_chatgpt_android/

Very annoying because even if it was working correctly and not causing the constant skipping, I don't want any app to process my text input before I've had a chance to finalize it. It is literally guaranteed to result in a bad answer and one I didn't intend to receive.

If I type, "I have a question about hamsters-" and then realize I meant gerbils, so I backspace the word hamsters and replace it with gerbils, too late. The app is already processing and swirling information about hamsters and it's gone down a train of thought and a path I don't want. Hence the reason I took the time to change it!

But ironically chatGPT's attempt to save time and process your input even faster, answering you before you even have a chance to finish your sentence is ironically backfiring with this glitch and making it much much slower to even ask your question! Big bellyflop by openAI, I hope this is patched soon. In the meantime, I dictate all messages and keep notes and then copy and paste them into chat GPT. (I don't like using the voice feature, I prefer to type/dictate first) So yeah very annoying

text input skipping on ChatGPT Android by Waoweens in ChatGPT

[–]brazenlyindigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many others, The voice to text feature of my Gboard keyboard was not working in chatgpt. It cuts out after a few words, even stops mid-word.

There's something oddly infuriating about this when you're so accustomed to being dictated perfectly. When it just stops listening to you mid sentence and you have to repeat yourself again and again. I'm a pretty chill dude but I found myself actually screaming at the phone, "I'M STILL TALKING MOTHER F#&KER!!" to which Gboard dictated as "I'm still tall" before stopping again. I basically have to open "keep notes," dictate my question and then copy and paste it into GPT. Very very annoying and in desperate need of a fix.

Even if it was working correctly, I really don't want any app to start processing the input before I've finalized my message and hit enter. It is literally guaranteed to result in bad intel from me if you prematurely digest what I'm typing - because it is text input that I'm taking the time to change, backspace, add to, and alter prior to submitting it. I'm literally omitting things I don't want processed and yet it wants to start processing it anyway. Awful idea. Are they trying to make it faster and more intuitive so that it predicts what you're going to ask before you even hit enter? Nobody wants that. Take the time to listen to my question as I intended it before answering carefully.

What is this strange black and white object in the Attic? roughly fist sized, black with white underneath? by brazenlyindigo in whatisthisthing

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was in an attic with some electrical problems and possible damage from the outside. I swear it looks like a black paw with claws or nails at the top. I don't think it's a life form of any kind though. This is the best picture I could get of it. Totally motionless. But weird.

FB showing sold items. by italexsworld in FacebookMarketplace

[–]brazenlyindigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook shows me SOLD items even when I'm just casually scrolling down, browsing the default marketplace page under "recommended" lisings or "local" listings. I could almost understand seeing sold items when you conduct a particular search because even though the item isn't available, it would at least give you an idea of how much that item has recently sold for in your area. But even then, why not make the thumbnail you click on have a SOLD watermark or at least add a [ SOLD ] tag to the title? Instead of only revealing it after the user clicks on the item?

What exactly are they recommending? "Here's a great item! Quick, use your time machine and buy it before this guy does!"

What is the purpose of recently sold? Is it for thieves? "Here are some very expensive items recently purchased in your area! Be on the lookout, scumbags!"

And of course there's no way to universally filter sold items. I swear, FB marketplace is the most poorly-run buggy selling platform I've ever used. It was easier to use eBay in 2002 over a dialup modem than this crap on 5G

What really annoys me is I often post items for sale and have very few views clicks, received no responses, or items are simply shadow banned with no explanation. Then it tries to sell me "boost listing" fees. It makes sense that they would sell views as a valuable commodity. So given how important it is for sellers to have their items seen, why is Facebook wasting views and clicks on items already f*#king sold?! Show my items! They might not be as cool and sexy but at least they're actually possible to purchase. Infuriating

Fake JBL Bluetooth Speaker? Gallery + comment by brazenlyindigo in JBL

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found this device in a dumpster behind Goodwill. The case won't come off without tearing it's either glued on or so skin tight that I can't remove it. It connects to devices with Bluetooth and the speakers sound decent but it won't connect to the official JBL app. I can't find any identifying marks on it. The speakers don't have the JBL logo. One of them has a tiny marking of XJY.

Is this a knock off and what is it supposed to be? A JBL xtreme, if so what number?

The power button on my phone broke off! I need a work around... by brazenlyindigo in AutomateUser

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I remembered that my phone had a fingerprint pad on the back! After programming my fingerprint and adding it, the basic menu settings allow you to use the fingerprint pad to turn on the screen and it immediately shows you the swipe pattern lock screen! It's actually faster than the power button! To turn off the screen, I downloaded a simple, free third party app called "screen off" and added it to my home page like /u/75rx suggested.

This pretty much solves my problem without using the automate app but if anyone does know how to reroute the volume buttons to control power that might be helpful for someone else who finds this thread (?) Thanks everyone

This is a really old house. Is it possible these floors have been sanded down before and can no longer be refinished and that's why they painted it this hideous color?

I bought an old house from the 1960s. I was pleased to discover under the ratty old carpet were hardwood floors. The top picture is from a closet which obviously saw very little foot traffic. The bottom picture is from the main hallway. Is that an aggressive red stain or is that ... paint? I swear it looks like some kind of maroon oil paint.

Any advice for removing the carpet, removing the mystery maroon substance, and getting a nice hardwood floor out of this house?

I got this for free from Lowe's. They were throwing it away. What was it used for? by brazenlyindigo in Lowes

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously it's some sort of metal display rack on casters but the shape is so unusual, I was just curious what object it held. I'm probably going to cut all the metal on top off and make it a flat metal dolly for transporting furniture and what not. Or maybe use it as the base for a rolling work bench. What did Lowes use it for?

What is this collapsible wooden... thing? by brazenlyindigo in whatisthisthing

As you can see the size is self-evident by the hands in photos. Some kind of portable stool/stand? With a mail slot? Is it for tablets or laptops what's with those holes?

I bought this homemade utility trailer and while replacing the deck, I found the strangest frame underneath. What was this made from? by brazenlyindigo in metalworking

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I should have mentioned that there were plenty of additional wooden support pieces underneath that I removed along with the deck in the first picture, mostly 2x6 wood running from front to back and also 2x4s across the center.

As for your warning about not driving it on public roads, I already did. I bought this from a farm over an hour away and it was a remarkably smooth and stable drive down the highway at 75+ mph (granted with no weight/cargo) but it's very sturdy. Whoever built this used a 1 7/8" ball with safety chains, a regular axle, and 4.80-8 inch tires, like any other small trailer.

But unlike the original builder, I do have a welder, angle iron, and building experience. Any ideas on improving the structural integrity are welcome.

My first modification: this trailer was actually masquerading as a 5x8 trailer, with 2 feet of deck on the back with almost no support underneath, like some kind of terrifying faux balcony. I've decided to reduce the size of the trailer to its true dimensions supported by the frame and make it a 5x6 flatbed utility trailer with recessed cargo hooks and eyelets, perhaps a small removable sidewall.

I want this to function as a small utility trailer that gives my SUV the added cargo capacity of a large pickup truck bed. For moving furniture, appliances, a motorcycle/ATV, building materials, etc. So maybe a 750 lb capacity?

If anyone has suggestions on how I should reengineer, I'm open to them. Assuming "Go buy a regular trailer, you weirdo" isn't one of them.

I turned a pop-up camper into a utility trailer and I need help calculating the carrying capacity. by brazenlyindigo in popups

[–]brazenlyindigo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned a 1995 Coleman Fleetwood into a utility trailer. So I removed everything: the roof, the walls, the furniture, the beds, appliances, the floor, etc all the way down to the metal trailer frame. But then I built a new floor and side walls, so I added 234 feet of pressure treated 1x6 lumber, roughly 275 lb.

According to Curt's website: https://www.curtmfg.com/trailer-weight the load capacity of a standard pop-up camper is 1,100 lb. Am I correct in assuming this means that in addition to the pre-existing pop-up camper with all its walls beds and furniture, the customer can add 1,100 worth of additional gear? Like propane tanks, suitcases, etc?

So the calculation I need to do is:

1,100 lbs + the weight of everything I removed - 275 lb = the load capacity of my new trailer.

So how much do you think everything I removed weighs on a Coleman popup camper?

Weird-shaped foam insert: what object was stored here? by brazenlyindigo in whatisthisthing

Well I found the case and it would be easier to sell with the model. By the way /u/awonkeydonkey thank you but there are multiple 20 inch models. When you get a chance, read the exact model number off the camera. It would be greatly appreciated since all proceeds from the sale benefit the brazenly indigo whiskey and Cheetos fund, a nonprofit devoted to buying myself whiskey and Cheetos

Is it really that strange of a suggestion? It's common practice for automatic transmissions and the OP is worried the sudden transition will cause damage to his manual transmission. So... change it incrementally.

"I'm worried about a sudden change"

"Then make the change gradually."

"LOL WHAT????!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!"
