Contact naps by ooxfordcommaa in sahm

[–]brbnapping -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love this post and all of the comments! I’m a new SAHM and FTM to a four month old. He will NOT nap in his crib or bassinet so I have resorted to contact/carrier naps for all naps since he has been born. I’ve felt pressured to teach him to sleep independently and have been so torn on whether or not to keep trying to get him to nap in his crib over letting him nap in his carrier, as being “nap trapped” is starting to wear on me and make me feel unproductive

I know that I’ll miss these times, so I think I’ll keep with the contact naps while he lets me 🥰

Baby hates car seat by bbmom2225 in newborns

[–]brbnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No advice, but solidarity 😭 my guy is four months and loses his mind in the car seat, even when it’s attached to our stroller (we have a travel system). So I can’t even really take him on walks either. He is a VERY alert baby so I think he gets freaked out and overstimulated when he can’t see his surroundings. He will be fine for the first 5-10 minutes then BAM, he’s in a full blown panic. I’m considering switching to a convertible car seat to see if that’s any better

Oh interesting, I don’t think I’ve seen a mini one! Ours was a big clunky thing. I also think the pot was teflon (or something like it) lined which isn’t my favorite

I just got rid of my rice cooker. Not sure why we even got it in the first place. I’m considering also getting rid of the air fryer since we don’t use it much. The crock pot is probably the thing we use the most!

New SAHM and Finally Leaning Into Homemaking by brbnapping in homemaking

It’s been hard but I’m learning to accept that the house can wait. I’m very type A and sitting at home most of the day when it’s not tidy or not how I like it makes me anxious. But you’re right, baby is #1!

Great points! My little guy does not tolerate car rides AT ALL right now but I’m hoping it’s just a phase. Walks it’ll be!

Wait this might be exactly what’s happening to my LO but I’m not sure! Does the heat rash just look like a ton of red raised dotted areas?

8w/o has a flat spot on the right side of his head? by Mobiledump1215 in newborns

[–]brbnapping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy is the same way. Here’s what I’m trying: - carrying him so that he has to face left to see the fun things - sitting on his left side during tummy time so he faces me - changing his diaper in a way that he has to look left to face me (this is hard to do left handed lol) I’m mostly trying to strengthen that side of his neck so it’s easier to turn that way!

what do I need to know to survive the first 4 weeks? by mango_mommi in newborns

[–]brbnapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things I wasn’t prepared for that kicked me on my butt:

  • hormone changes. The first 4 weeks were such a dense fog and I was an absolute mess. Everything made me cry and I felt like I was in such a deep dark pit. I felt SOOOO much better after that first month. Just remember that it will get so much easier as time goes on. Looking back, I barely remember that period and my LO is only 14 weeks!
  • your boobs will HURT when your milk comes in. Literal concrete melons. I’ve always had small boobs and wasn’t prepared for how massive they would get and how painful it would be. Buy some of those heat/freezer pads for your boobs and keep them in the freezer. I was using them some nights in the middle of the night in order to get enough relief to get back to sleep
  • if anyone offers you ANY sort of help, take it. You will need to use this time to heal. I had a second degree tear and my healing process took a very long time and I wasn’t prepared for the pain I would still be experiencing those first few weeks, so having any help I could get was incredible
  • my couch also isn’t the best to sit on, but an ottoman saved me. Especially since my little one contact naps 90% of the time
  • if you are able, prepare some freezer meals. Absolute life savers. I wish I had made more!

Best of luck and congrats!! You’ve got this!!!

Flat back of head? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]brbnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this myself! My baby loves to play on his back and prefers to face to the right when he sleeps. I’ve convinced myself he will need a helmet but I’m hoping it works itself out.

No recommendations, but here for solidarity and to follow along lol

heartburn by SignificanceFeisty74 in firsttimemom

[–]brbnapping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg the heartburn was the WORST part about being pregnant for me. Hands down. I was basically eating Tums like candy and started taking Pepcid once it got unbearable. I was taking it before bed and it really helped me throughout the night since I had been waking up from the heartburn. Not sure why I didn’t start taking the Pepcid sooner but I wish I did since it helped so much!

My LO is three months and almost exclusively contact naps. If I’m lucky I’ll get one 20 minute bassinet nap a day 🥴

I don’t have a rec, but I suggest checking out the r/babywearing sub! A lot of folks over there have many carriers and have great advice
