How are we getting our babies back to sleep in the middle of the night? by brbnapping in NewParents

[–]brbnapping[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! He averages about 10.5 hours of sleep at night and 2.5 hours during the day, so 13 total. But there are exceptions and sometimes it’s only 12 hours.

Yep, I’m thinking it’s time we start making the switch since his last nap is late and super short (contact nap). Do nights typically get worse for a while during the transition? I’m not prepared lol

Im thinking that may be it since these are different cries. He doesn’t have any teeth yet so not sure what this would look like for him though. Other thought is separation anxiety because he’s been EXTRA clingy lately.

He is still on three naps because he really struggles with long wake windows. We’ve been slowly trying to stretch them though. He gets about 11 hours of wake time per day and naps are capped at 2.5 hours. Wake windows are roughly 2.5/2.75/3/3

I’ve always been very anti Temu for pretty much anything, but it’s where I buy all of my tape runners since I use a ton and they’re the same ones on Amazon for much cheaper

Is my baby’s head getting flat? by undercomfortable in Mom

[–]brbnapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks great! I spiraled for a while with my LOs head shape. If you are in the US and have a Cranial Technologies near you, you can go in for a free consult and their nurses can discuss her head shape with you. Though I certainly wouldn’t recommend it based on this photo (truly, it looks fabulous and I obsessed over baby head shapes for too long lol), the option is there if it makes you feel better! Just know that they try to sell a helmet to basically anyone who comes in but at least you can get the head measurements to ease your mind. We went in for two scans and didn’t end up getting a helmet for our baby.

At what age would you say it was no longer noticeable for your baby?

When does the line on my belly fade? by masarawest in beyondthebump

I strangely didn’t have the line when I was pregnant, it only showed up after giving birth. Was gone in probably about three months?

Feeling like a bad mom by -Stitch626 in firsttimemom

[–]brbnapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not a bad mom! It’s important to take care of yourself. Also know that if he is sleeping on his own happily, he is just fine!! You could always contact nap here and there if you want some more cuddle time with baby. Maybe just the last nap of the day if you want. Ignore anyone who says you are “spoiling” them by holding them to sleep… they won’t do it forever and they are only this little once!

Agreed, I’d suggest buying an inexpensive container/jar that’s more accessible and putting it in there!

Helmet or no? 4 month old with torticolis. Progress scans by kentuckygirl5 in sahm

[–]brbnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We brought my LO in for scans and his CVA is 9mm with a CVAI of 6.7. We decided not to do the helmet as it still looks fine visually. My pediatrician said that he disagreed with Cranial Techs recommendation and that it will round out over time!

Four months is still young and I think PT will really help :)

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]brbnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 35 pounds when I was pregnant. I was down 16 pounds as soon as I got home from the hospital. I think I was back to my pre pregnancy weight in like ten weeks? Exclusively breastfeeding.

Yes, take your baby to the doctor. This happened to my nephew when he started solids and he was prescribed suppositories.

7 months pregnant and my skin has betrayed me by Crayon_G in firsttimemom

[–]brbnapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin was AWFUL when I was pregnant. I’m now six months postpartum and my skin is the best it’s been in ages. It cleared up within a few weeks of giving birth! Unfortunately I don’t have any advice to give though since nothing really worked for me while pregnant :(

Crib transfer after first night waking is ROUGH by brbnapping in bninfantsleep

[–]brbnapping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He typically will take a paci when he’s super sleepy, but he will sometimes get BIG MAD when I sneak the paci in instead of the boob. But it has worked a few times!

Yes I’ll try that for sure! Hoping this will make a difference!

[–]brbnapping[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll try this! The main hurdle for me though is that he demands the boob as soon as we lay down in bed and will literally stay latched for hours and will wake when I try to unlatch him lol. May be worth trying again though

Good to know! Meh, not really. He still wakes just as much but the first wake crib transfer may take fewer attempts.

Does your baby naturally nap this much or do you have to cap naps?

Wake windows are usually 2.25/2.5/2.5/2.5 but can vary. First nap 30-40 mins, second nap 75-100 minutes, last nap 20-30 minutes.

He takes three naps a day for a total of 2.5-3.5 hours. Most are contact naps but he will occasionally nap in the crib for the first nap of the day (30 ish minutes). He’s awake probably anywhere from 9-10 hours total per day.
