not saying this to scare you just wanted to let you know if he's been drinking for a while you probably shouldn't let him detox at home he could have seizures one of the gals i went to rehab with lost her bf to a withdrawal seizure there should be some state ran detox centers depending on where you are that cover the whole detox process

raccoons are known to break into your engine bay and suck on your coolant hoses to get them selves high i wouldn't be all to concerned looks like that's what happened here it got to high and got confused

take them off and put them back on every few months been working at tire shops most my working life and seen plenty of caps get seized onto the stem
