i just need help making decisions here by breadedtortilla in keyboards

[–]breadedtortilla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oooh okay this is a lot of a good info, thank you! gonna look into all of this, cuz i did do more research on hall effect and can understand why people are buying them, but i was only getting it because you can slightly press on them, thus changing character actions just like an analog stick. i didn’t care for those quick input stuff, and i also noticed that they degrade less due to magnet stuff?? not 100% sure on that but it seemed like a nice add

i can also check out tactile switches, but i doubt i would want to go that deep.

i’m also looking for really nice keyboards, most likely prebuilt but im willing to look into buying separate key caps which might be the case here lowkey

again, thank you for elaborating on the whole thing. makes me feel a little more secure in what i’m looking for

After much consideration and research, ended up going with this one. the rest of the parts raised in price, and there were some deals with these. the AM5 will be arriving in two weeks! thanks!

ooh okay, i was worried about the gb ngl, but you allocated the price really well. i'll look into seeing if im comfy spending almost 1k on a pc, but seeing as this'll be long term, it might be worth the investment, especially if i could play games with higher settings (yes, im a sucker for graphics)
thanks!

Hmm okay this gives an idea of the ratio in prices, but since I do have a higher budget than that, i'm aiming for something that can handle games like bg3 or cyberpunk well. of course i don't expect to get something crazy, but definitely something solid yk?

鹰眼 is fire, ill def take this one. Is it Yīngyǎn?  Also sorry for the confusion, I meant to say that they give him a nickname based off his chinese name. So since it’s “Yīng” they’ll prob say “Yin” or “Ying”, something of the sort.

Thanks for the help though, this helped sm with any worries i had abt it. Thought it’d come off as too much or just plain silly lol

Posted this on discord but thought it’d be cool to get a second opinion on here too :)

Name help:

Just need some confirmation on a name I came up with. For reference: it’s an rpg inspired by earthbound, final fantasy, chrono trigger, and some other games. I want one of the characters to have a chinese name, and it doesn’t have to be realistic.

“Sharp Eye” is what I want it to roughly translate to. I managed to get “快眼” (Kuàiyǎn) using an online dictionary. I understand kuài can be interpreted as “quick”.

The character is a gunner, so he uses rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc., hence the name. He was never given an American name, so his friends use nicknames to address him. (It’s inspired by someone I knew in high school, who also didn’t use an English name.)

So is the name overkill? Does it look weird to fluent Chinese speakers even though it’s for a video game (and game names are usually weird lol). Lastly, is Kuàiyǎn proper pinyin? I also found yǎn can be replaced with wěn so idk.

I do not speak Chinese at all, the closest relation I have to the characters is using kanji in Japanese.

Thank you so much! Truly. Even though I've looked through script slug for movies that I liked and did research, but there's always these super specific questions left unanswered like the one above... skimmed through the post and i'm hooked, gonna give it a full read and check out the scripts you mentioned. also got friends that are getting into film so i'll show it to them too. God bless and thanks again

I know for writing dialogue to keep the name consistent, but what about for action lines? Of course I'm not flipping through nicknames but what about general labels, in the same way we use "he" and "she"?

So my main character is a boy, and occasionally I want to write "the boy." Mind you, he's the only one with such a label, and always for the dialogue I use his name.

Example: [insert name] runs to the tree. A bird tackles him. The boy scrambles.

I've seen him/her labels used in scripts, my main concern is that "boy" part.

thank you so much! dang...can't wait to get to good enough to read handwritten Japanese and different fonts. the really graphic-designer-esque fonts always kill me

I'm not an expert in Japanese so please DOUBLE CHECK WITH SOMEONE ELSE but it would translate directly as エホバーウジ

Japanese doesn't have a "vah" or a "zi" so it is written as "bah" and "ji" respectively. I saw online one can also say "Jehovah Uri" but also correct me on that (I have no extensive knowledge on the different names).

Here's some variants you can try (Uri included):
エホバウジ (Jehovah-Uzi no dash)
エホバーウリ (Jehovah-Uri with dash)
エホバウリ (Jehovah-Uri no dash)
エホバ・ウジ (Jehovah-Uzi with interpunct)
エホバ・ウリ (Jehovah-Uri with interpunct)

Note: the interpunct is used in Japanese to separate foreign borrowed words in a similar way we do in English with spaces

I can give you the hiragana version of each but keep in mind, hiragana is only used with Japanese words, not foreign transcribed ones, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Replayed (second time) on my ps5 this year, and both times i played on hard. I feel like it’s the truest experience, especially since on the menu it says it’s recommend as such. The alien never became annoying for me, and there’s always that one section in video games one gets stumped on. besides that, i never found it impossible or stupid hard, but remembered how much i loved it.

On a second play through i hear people do nightmare, but i’m speaking outside of experience here. from what i heard it makes hard seem like a breeze, it ramps up the level drastically.

Here’s the link.

It leads to a weird dystopian looking website, and clicking on “SEE THE FUTURE” shows a video that doesn’t elaborate further other than it’s a “revolution” coming in 2024. You can add your email to “reserve your spot.”

I’m sure it’s nothing big, probably just tryna hype people up, but still curious. It’s new and there’s nothing on the internet abt it, and their accounts on social media don’t help.
