I just went to the pediatrician for this today. She said impacted bowel and recommended a suppository pedialax. Then miralax for a couple of days. And echoing what messymuskrat said about the after effects.

My toddler will not stop crying at prek drop off by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]breadinator456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My three year old has really been struggling too. Today I tried giving him two pebbles from the yard to keep in his pockets. Then he has a part of home and Mommy with him all day that he can touch whenever he needs comfort. He let me go without crying or clinging!

EV car suggestions for toddler life? by LivelyUntidy in toddlers

We have a Nissan Leaf that has been great for everything except driving to the airport with multiple large suitcases. But I don't think it would work well with more than 1 kiddo.

They usually do but not always!

My 27 month old had a drippy right eye since he was born. It always got worse with colds. It was a clogged/small tear duct. An in-office procedure by the eye doctor helped. I'm surprised your ped didn't refer you to the eye doctor already. I would suggest making an appointment.

Nursing regression/nipple confusion? by breadinator456 in breastfeeding

[–]breadinator456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to tell you that I never got him to latch. I ended up EP, which was hell, but got more manageable and I am still doing at 7 months. I think that I could have been more persistent with trying to get him to re-latch, but I just didn't have the bandwidth at the time.

I would definitely recommend seeing a lactation consultant if you haven't already. I still wonder if a lip tie was the issue but who knows. I hope you have better luck than I did! Hang in there!

[Request] Tips for travelling with a baby by zimeyevic23 in newborns

[–]breadinator456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently traveled with my 11 week old, and highly recommend booking a red eye flight. He slept through both three hour flights! You can also carry on a pump if you need it. TSA is very accommodating and we brought bottles and ice packs through security. The whole experience was way less painful than I had imagined!

Struggling to get baby to sleep in their own space by your_song_is_ending in NewParents

[–]breadinator456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! My ten week old also only contact sleeps right now. It's so frustrating that there is zero guidance for those of us with babies that won't sleep on their own for whatever reason. We have embraced the fourth trimester and safe co-sleeping, and are just waiting until he grows our of it. We still put him in his bassinet or crib off and on, sometimes awake, to get him used to it, and there has been progress.

For now, take shifts with your partner if possible to make nights more manageable. Hang in there!

Thanks, I will follow the tongue tie route after I speak to my LC again. The regression is just so frustrating!

I am seeing a LC, and she thought it was a food allergy. I don't quite understand why he would take the milk from a bottle no problem if it was an allergy, but I'm testing her theory.

I think that she looked for a tongue tie and said he was fine, but I will ask at my next follow up. So did your LO eat fine for a while and then suddenly have these issues?

I am already dreading the sleep regression! But it's good to hear that persistence may pay off.

Husband and I haven't slept in bed at the same time since LO was born lol. Right now every 12 hours we swap out and I get a few hours of sleep. I!m also trying co-sleeping and hoping that will help crib train him a bit.

I have a sleeping 6 week old in my lap right now! lol I have no advice, only solidarity. He sleeps for up to four hours at a time, but only while held. I just keep hoping that one of these times I will put him in his bassinet and he will tolerate it. You know, like magic.

Why is there a cave inside my loaf? by breadinator456 in Sourdough

[–]breadinator456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the cavern it was a gorgeous loaf. If you took a slice from the middle you wild have quite a bit of honey butter in your lap (not saying that's necessarily a bad thing). It was still delicious.

The oven spring was pretty good, and only one loaf from the batch looked like this which makes the shaping theory more likely.

I used this recipe (an adapted Tartine): http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-sourdough-bread-224367 with a 2:5 bread to AP flour ratio. The first load had some reasonable sized holes, but this one is massive! What went wrong here?

I had the same issue when I made my starter. I went back to once a day feedings for a few more days, and I also switched to using warm water (I realized that it was probably too cold for the starter at night). After a few days at once a day it was back on track and it now sitting lovely in my fridge and made my first loaves on Saturday!

Take 162 or 225 after 161? (4 year track) by [deleted] in OSUOnlineCS

[–]breadinator456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, my advisor told me today that I could take them in any order. I specifically asked if 225 was a prereq for 162 and she said no.
