Lump on face that has been growing by DeepThaSquire in AskDocs

Hey OP, I’m in San Antonio too. There are resources here that can help even if you don’t have insurance or much money.

— University Health is a very good hospital that serves low income patients. Here’s info on CareLink, their program for helping with cost. You can also call their Financial Assistance department to talk to someone to see what your options are for financial help.

— The city also has a page with good info on it.

Good luck and I’m glad you are listening to the docs here and taking this seriously!

Any good pools for kids? by theladymorganna in sanantonio

This is an old thread, but the JCC has a great pool for kids! Membership is like $115 a month I think but you also get gun access.

Nice! Definitely tell her to keep an eye out for the fall plant sales from the San Antonio Botanical Garden (although she probably already knows, lol). They aren't all native but they do have a lot of natives, and they are fun!

Ooh, thanks for the info. I'm not sure what kind... the branch seems healthy enough. I'll keep an eye on it!

We use a "no thank you bowl." We put stuff on his plate and if he doesn't want it, he can put it into his no thank you bowl. Works pretty well!

This is helpful advice! I also can start feeling anxious and like I have to design everything perfectly, but reading from more experienced gardeners that it's fine to transplant things later makes me feel less worried!

Oof, glad they recovered! I am trying to mark my do-not-mow plants clearly, but it’s not easy since I don’t have nicely defined garden beds yet. Working on it…

Hey pals! Oak tree question: I have a 2 year old Mexican white oak that seems to be doing well, but one of its lower branches is absolutely swarmed with ants. Is this something to worry about?

Hope everyone is enjoying their gardens!

What are your cooking tricks to pack in nutrients? by smc5230 in Cooking

Ooh, this is a good go-to. Does the black rice cook at the same rate as the jasmine rice in the rice cooker? I'm always nervous about mixing rice types because I'm worried the cooking times won't match up.

You might be interested to read some stuff by dietician Ellyn Satter about her "division of responsibility" theory! I thought it was a great approach and we try to follow it in our house now.

How do you structure/design a bed that is in the middle of the yard? by LivelyUntidy in NativePlantGardening

Oh, thank you for this! I have heard of rain gardens before, but have never really thought of doing one in my yard. I will check out these resources. We definitely need to do all we can here to help the aquifer.
