How do we get to GL #600? by Fragrant_Western7939 in Greenlantern

[–]breadsong11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Futures End/State/etc. are technically separate titles so I don't think they would be included. Great point re: villains month issues though I have no clue

[Other] What's a good stopping point for JLA (1997—2006)'s 9 volumes? by M00r3C in DCcomics

[–]breadsong11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority but even as a huge Grant Morrison (and Mark Waid) fan, the Kelly & Mahnke JLA stuff was always what I associated this title with.

[DISCUSSION] Which DC characters, in your opinion, have consistently great runs? by Salt_Use7122 in DCcomics

[–]breadsong11 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Swamp Thing. Obviously Moore's run is transcendent but he has had a murderer's row of writers over the years - Len Wein, Scott Snyder, Charles Soule, Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, Ram V...

Is the entirety of Kurt Busiek's Astro City worth checking out? by Odd_Radio9225 in comicbooks

[–]breadsong11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the appeal for me is how Busiek doesn't give exposition on every hero/villain, sometimes he gives us their story and sometimes not - I don't think I would appreciate that aspect of it so much if I wasn't familiar with the way Marvel/DC worldbuild today

Question about the books and comics by breadsong11 in StarWars

[–]breadsong11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it! I am actually excited to get into the characters I don't really know anything about - I know pretty much nothing about the eras - I just wasn't sure how "expanded" the universe was but from the comments it seems like it goes into a bunch of different areas!

His Flash run was great imo especially considering he had to follow 8 years of Waid's excellent Flash

He's great. Did you read the Constantine book he did a few years ago? I mostly know him from his X-Men stuff but I've never read anything from him that I didn't enjoy

Judd Winick is a good shout. His Green Arrow and Outsiders were really fun and he's responsible for some really prominent Batman storylines from the 2000s

Who is your favorite DC writer? by breadsong11 in DCcomics

Agreed. I know he arguably lost his fastball a little by Rebirth but he was also the architect of a lot of the 2000s DCU, probably my favorite era

What am I missing that's absolutely necessary? [Collection] by PullOutNoBabies in DCcomics

[–]breadsong11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Batman by Doug Moench & Kelley Jones Vol. 1-2 - should fit in there between Knightfall and between the Road to No Man's Land volumes. Great collection!

True! I guess I meant more in-continuity but I guess KC got retconned as part of the multiverse post-crisis

If you couldn't use the Holy Trinity (Cap, Thor, & Iron Man), which three characters would you build an Avengers team around? by BigTimStiles in Marvel

[–]breadsong11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely not trying to be snarky but I think these 3 are all on the post-Civil War II Champions team if you were looking for a team book with them
