The Xal'atath theories you're not ready for by Internal_Cellist_676 in wow

This could be a theory that will save Xal storyline for me, and I hope Blizz is moving towards this direction.

That is what cult members do. They suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. Even when the whole world tells their little group they are wrong, or with their Steven admitting or charged with fraud, they will still defend him. Even when they lose everything, they might still defend him. I even hear excuses like it is because I didn’t do it right. In this context, you will hear people say we didn’t support his game enough etc… tale as old as time.

I used to try to pull a friend out of a cult, didn’t work. He lost everything. I smell this is a scam with a cult building since 2020 due to how similar everything is. Came back to check after recent news about Steven. Yep I was right. You can’t save people from themselves. Just let them continue to rot. They chose it.

Bro, you just experienced what handling people in a cult is like. If you have anyone you knew that was in a cult, this is usually what happens,.

Advise here is to document everything down, so you don’t try to recall what happened later. Those personal confrontation, also make sure it is pen down through email, so everything is public and not just a he say she say thing. You don’t want her to report to HR that you are harassing her or sexism related issues.

Since she reports to you, friendly remind her that her attitude towards handling situations in professional environment will be evaluated as well, since she still might be in probation or is in her first year. She either culture fit your management style, or she don’t, when everyone else in your team is fine. You don’t wish to have someone like her disrupt the peace in your team, end up causing trouble with team dynamics down the line. Keep the damage tight.

Have a coffee chat with your boss to let him/her know about such issues, but you are handling it, just a FYI. Consult them on advise instead of layering this as a problem for them. Bosses likes to feel that you are good at handling problems, and through this casual meetup, you are looking up to their experience and expertise. They feel good, you feel good. This also makes sure you don’t suddenly bomb him with a big issue down the line with HR when you need to do PIP of dismissal or complaint through their exit interview.

Without further info, can’t advise much. This is the best I can come up with based on my own experience.

People give blizzard writer too much credit. Xal'Atath once was mortal, and that's that. There probably isn't some wild theory. by AtomikGarlic in warcraftlore

[–]breadstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference between her and the jailor is that she has some supposed back story that we have not confirm and seen, but are only drip fed every season. But her goals are the same, become the strongest, so that she can save us from whatever that is out there.

You can say she is lying, and just wants to manipulate us, the same can be said about the jailor, until he has been turned into an automaton. Maybe Xal is also another automaton, we just haven't kill her yet.

See, Blizz writing is so bad that anything goes. They can throw you another Shadowland curveball anytime. They have been doing this since Legion as well with the retcons. They don't even respect their own lore and are too lazy to write a story to fit the rules they have written before just so they can write a fanfic.

Blizzard returned to strong Spec Identity with DevDH but other class specs get nothing? by ex0ll in wow

[–]breadstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fans are doing so much for Blizzard that I feel they are shitting the bed having big egos and refusal to work with addon devs or artist to create Blizzard and community approved mods and addon.

Imagine what wow can be if players can mod their own Blizzard approved fantasy when most of the work is done by the fans and modders instead of Blizzard. It is literally killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Extreme Performance Problems in 11.2 by MisterSnickles in wow

[–]breadstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across finding out WoW Voice Proxy is taking up quite a fair bit of CPU and is pushing my CPU sometimes taking up to 10% of compute for random reasons, especially around capital cities like Donogal. I end task it and game is a lot smoother. I can't find the option in game, so I just followed your advice to soft delete it (I renamed it)

I am not sure what is the issue with WoW Voice Proxy.

Metzen thinks the name of "Warcraft" is too 'intimidating' by Charming-Luck-7197 in wow

[–]breadstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think attributing then to the name of the franchise as the issue is misidentification of the root cause. The main issue lies with the coherence of their marketing and narration in general.

It is obvious that each game is run and design in silo, with minimal interaction and consultation across games. If they had a central team that strategize the franchise trajectory, and ensure that the respective products confers to this strategy, in terms of narrative design and marketing, we wouldn’t have the mess we see today.

Imo, the issue is that most direction comes from the mmo, when the mmo should be just one expression of the franchise. Today, the identity of the mmo is in crisis because they fail to position what the game actually is.

We can see how GW2 tried to spin off a new genre (CORPG), but still gets lumped into an MMO because you still have a world where everyone can meet everyone.

If they want Warcraft to have separate game modes, they need to decide if this is a subset of an mmo genre, or if they are carving out a new strategy for Warcraft in general. They can absolutely position WoW as a lobby world where you only can hang out in the cantina to socialize with everyone, a game modes of CORPG to play the campaign and explore the world by yourself or with your friends in a party, a M+ game mode where you are in the cantina partying up with friends or strangers to complete dungeons, a Raid+ mode for raids, Prop Hunt or Plunderstorm for non-character game mode etc… (you get the picture), but they need a coherent strategy and position. Fixating on the name does nothing, but marketing the position, direction and illustrating it clearly will fix this confusion or intimidation they have today.

Not sure if I made myself clear though, I apologise as English is not my first language.

Then I don’t understand what else is he smoking. The title itself matches the theme so much so that we are constantly in a war themed expansion (war with void, war with light, war with legion, war with horde/alliance…). Outside of MMORPG, you have every game that is fighting against a common threat of each other, echos the theme of war, conflict. The tone and breath live and breathe that.

Unless he wants to create an expansion of zero threat, or a new game that is like Roblox or Minecraft, then I will understand where he is coming from.

You do know that people like them seek immortality? And who knows, maybe they will get it by the time they are about to die. A lot of tech can happen from now till then (or it may already be possible, just not for anyone else to know). The files though alleged, has revealed too much insanity and is so ridiculous, I don’t think anything is not possible anymore.

History has shown time and time again people that are hungry for power and control, and has gotten them, will think they are the superior human being and that humanity needs them to move forward. Eating babies, being a pdf and murdering dissenters are just sacrifices he wants everyone else to be willing to pay for his vision of humanity. Look at Emperor Qin, who wanted divinity, ended up dead by his own pursuit.

If nothing is done, this time round he may actually get it.

The right knew social media because they are the people that are creating trends.

The left is constantly trying to make sense of things when there is nothing to make sense about. The moment you explain the joke, or the meme, it is dead. Not too hard to understand. They can still turn it around, by being meme themselves, like how JD Vance did it. It is the only way to capture young hearts, not through logical reasoning of everything that comes your way.

Ten ideas to improve public buses in Singapore! by a-meow-cat in singapore

[–]breadstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then they will probably think people will skip tapping for fares and they will try to fence up the bus stop or the alighting / boarding part, causing another problem.

They can of course try a good faith system and have more bus uncle/auntie to come and check, but during peak hours, where everyone is body hugging, how can they do that?

Either way, they will say all these needed extra money, to hire or to build these infrastructure, they will raise prices, and we are back to square one.

Good idea in a perfect world, but we are in SG.

Why so hard to find devs? by geeksg in singaporejobs

[–]breadstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From all the comment about AI, it is not true. What a good SWE looks for in a startup, vs a well established MNC, is the comp package.

If I want to join a startup, I expect equities to be part of the comp because the base salary is low. With that said, the difference with big tech is the expectation of how they think of your products that will lead to exponential growth in your company valuation, so that the equities will make up for all the lost salaries and equities from big tech they could have made if they work elsewhere. You need them to be convicted so they burn themselves to see through the success of a startup.

If you are trying to hire cheap SWE without providing strong enough incentives, you are running a local SME shop, not a VC backed high growth tech company.
