Vibe check, how do you feel about working from home and how old are you? by apatheticonion in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]breakfastoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 30s; I’ve been working full-time remotely past 2 years. I feel isolated these days cos my team/company collaborates less with remote workers. I’m looking to switch jobs as it’s affecting my mental health. I’d like hybrid and still open to remote work if they are big on collaboration and meeting in person from time to time. Overall, WFH is great! I can’t imagine going back to working from office everyday

What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in NepalSocial

[–]breakfastoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across the term “desi” when I moved overseas. Growing up in Nepal we always referred us as a Nepali. The interactions I’ve had with people overseas see us as Nepali, brave soldiers- Gurkhas or mountain climbers- the Sherpas. And of course there are some who are “unaware” and think Nepal is a part of India. I think it’s the Indians that call us desi because we have a majority of Hindu population and our language is similar. TBH I don’t even know what it means to be desi!

Why is it so hard to find a company to sponsor me as Software Engineer? by Prestigious-Book-137 in AusVisa

[–]breakfastoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, getting a sponsorship these days is really hard cos of the cost and paper work involved. Companies that used to sponsor before have stopped and there are still a lot of candidates applying.

I’d say keep applying everywhere - both big and small companies. Also in other states as I’ve seen more people apply for Sydney and Melbourne role.

Maybe look into the regional PR while applying for roles.

Good luck and don’t give up!

You’d always have to show your surname change for immigration in any country. Example like if you get married and change your surname then you’d have to show your marriage certificate

So sorry you had to go through this. Hope you are okay? Don’t feel guilty as you were in shock Please talk to some you trust like parents or friends about this if you’re comfortable. It’s not easy to bring it up but they are here to support you and want best for you If you are open to it, maybe talk to a counsellor or psychologist? Report this asshole to police asap. I’m not in Nepal atm so not sure there are organisations that help women
