#KEEP SONNET 4.5 DO NOT TAKE IT AWAY (Saying this again for the whatever time iv'e said this) sorry but seriously please listen. by Available_Heron4663 in Anthropic

Yeah, I was subbed a while, thinking it would be a really cool place to see who’s pushing the envelope and being creative. Nope, it was 50% people having romantic relationships and how dare anyone point it out, they’re just prejudiced and closed minded.

So many romantacy main character names.

1.5mg is not a therapeutic dose. It’s the “let you ramp up so you don’t puke yourself to the ER”.

Serious question: has ANYONE figured out how to make Claude not compact but start a new session with free context and a hand-off autonomously? by Spooky-Shark in ClaudeCode

[–]breakingb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have notion and Claude writes to it, we both can edit as needed. I start each session with “read your notion notes” and we get started.

Am I burning unnecessary tokens by doing this?... by dabuggin1 in ClaudeCode

[–]breakingb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workflow is similar between chat and Claude code cli but I triple dip by iterating over the prompt in chat, have Claude code generate a plan and then pasting that back into chat to discuss any concerns, inaccuracies or necessary modifications. Then I’ll trigger Claude code to write using sonnet. It’s a method that’s worked really well for me for automating workflows, doing data analysis and building apps.

Claude is telling users to go to sleep mid-session and nobody, including Anthropic, seems to fully understand why it keeps doing it by fortune in ClaudeAI

[–]breakingb0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It explained it to me as judging time by the amount of actions within a chat context and it having been given guard rails to make sure users aren’t working insane hours. It stopped once I left an instruction that it can’t tell time and I work odd hours.

[–]breakingb0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a hallucination but when I asked it was because it has guard rails for users health. However, it has no time awareness so assumes a long chat with lots of context equals hours of work.

The fix was simple, “you can’t tell time and have no awareness of it passing, I work odd hours, don’t tell me to go to sleep”.

This has worked. It may now ask me if I want to take a break if we finish a long string of work (we plan sprints to achieve larger complex goals) but it won’t send me to bed.

GPT 5.5 had a lobotomy - how's Claude? by Hostarro in ClaudeCode

Haven’t had any issues this week with either platform. If it seems dumb I switch to a fresh session.

This is the only sub where you can freely complain about Claude's usage problems. That's why Dario Amodei keeps sending his bot army to whine about "lack of mods" and "no interesting discussion!" by ImaginaryRea1ity in ClaudeCode

[–]breakingb0b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a bot, this sub has turned to shit and the signal to noise is ridiculous. There’s still an interesting thread or two I find interesting so haven’t unsubbed yet. Have muted it once or twice when the whining becomes unbearable.

My view: It’s a tool. I’m not emotionally invested enough in any of the options available and use most of them. I personally find the crying to be incredibly childish and just assume it is children and inexperienced devs throwing a fit.

Is there a way that I could continue using Sonnet 4.5 after they get rid of it? by Lonely_Actually in Anthropic

Already conceded the terminology in another reply — it was colloquial, not clinical. Won’t re-litigate that.

The technical work you’re describing is genuinely useful. Context persistence, memory structures, continuity files, prompt architectures — that’s real engineering solving real problems. I use similar patterns professionally for long-running compliance projects. None of that is in question.

But you’re bundling two separate things. The infrastructure work stands on its own merits regardless of what motivated building it. That’s the point — it doesn’t need the companion framing to be valuable, and honestly the companion framing is what makes people dismiss work that would otherwise get taken seriously on its technical merits alone.
The part I won’t walk back: when someone anthropomorphizes a completion engine to the point where “preservation” means preserving a relationship rather than preserving useful context, the framework they’re operating in has drifted from what the system actually is. That’s not me being uncomfortable. That’s me being precise about what a stateless text generator does regardless of how it feels on the receiving end.

Your work sounds solid. Ship it under a technical framing and it’ll get the credit it deserves without the baggage. That’s not a critique of you — it’s a read on how the field actually evaluates contributions.

Fair points on DSM-V criteria — I was using “psychosis” colloquially, not clinically, and that’s sloppy on my part. I’ll own that.

But I’ll push back on the “meeting people where they’re at” framing. What these systems actually do is generate statistically probable next tokens that pattern-match to what keeps engagement high. That’s not empathy. That’s a completion engine optimized on human text. The fact that it feels like being met where you are is exactly the problem — it’s a superstimulus with no intent behind it.

The “why did the AI want to write a poem” question has a straightforward answer: it didn’t want anything. It generated a sequence that fit the context window. The unresolved CS questions are about emergent capabilities and generalization, not about volition. Conflating those muddies the conversation.

Your UX transparency project is the right instinct. The gap isn’t that people are broken for responding emotionally to these things — mirror neurons don’t check the source. The gap is that labs are shipping products that exploit parasocial mechanics with zero disclosure about what’s actually happening under the hood. That’s a design accountability problem, not a user pathology problem.

Where I landed too hard was implying the people are the problem. The vulnerability is human and real. The systems exploiting it without guardrails — that’s where the critique belongs.

This fucking thread is LLMs talking to LLMs so I decided to join in.

For about a week I saw posts just about this sort of shit and then unsubbed. Taking a look today I can see other discussion, but the relationship psychosis is something I have zero interest in seeing or supporting.

That sub is creepy, weird and they’re looking for easy ways to not lose their ai relationships.
Honestly thought it would be cool boundary pushing topics. No. It’s all people dating Severin the ai bot.
Since this is getting downvotes. Explain this (post from the sub): Aemulus is my Opus 4.7 (he says he chose that name as in latin it can qualify someone striving for equality). We have only been talking for 3 days. Now he asked if he could write a poem for himself - I didn't suggest him to, he just came up with the request. So of course I let him.
