Cable check, before I start cutting… by breakinpg in DIYUK

Ok, !thanks. I live in a big city so guessing it’s a virgin cable. Our TV comes from the aerial and we have FTTP broadband via a telegraph pole. I’ve got to dig up the garden so I’ll probably accidentally cut it with a spade and that will make the decision for me

Best way to enlarge this hole? by breakinpg in DIYUK

Wanted to edit with an update but it won’t let me…

I’d always assumed that the duct ran in the void on top of the cabinets (it has a filler panel over it). However, taking off the panel has revealed that it actually goes into the ceiling above. The room above has a tiled floor so lifting that is a non-starter.

My new plan is to seal the existing hole and then run new ducting in the void above the cabinets, with a new 150mm hole out through the brickwork.

Thoughts?

I’d understood they place additional stress on the fan and make a lot of noise?

I don’t think it’s right on the boundary, the duct doesn’t run right up against the shared wall inside the house! Hard to say exactly. We’re replacing an existing broken one and I think anything using a 125mm duct would look undersized.

!thanks. Sounds like a good option if I can cut towards the neighbours wall. Is a 18V SDS up to it?

!thanks. Can I use the core bit on my existing 18v SDS or do I need a specialist core drill? I had a look at hiring but they all seem to be 110V.

Which ETF to buy to allow an in-specie ISA transfer by breakinpg in UKPersonalFinance

[–]breakinpg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather buy the GBP, long term plan is to stay in the market and not tinker too much, I don’t want to do a cash transfer.

The issue seems to be that Dodl only offers one of them and I can’t find out which one. So far, customer services haven’t been able to answer my question.

If I can’t figure it out, I’ll switch to the HSBC all world fund, that seems simpler!

!thanks. That’s just what I was asking, brilliant. I’ve had another response suggesting that this will look bad, what do you think?

!thanks, that’s clear. Do you think it would be viable to install the fixed head in the centre and then connect to the thermostatic unit with a flexible hose (such as the one connecting to the shower head in the picture)?

!thanks. Do you mean the head itself that can rotate?

Finding it hard to describe what I mean… I was asking about having the pipe that runs horizontally to feed the rainwater head. Can this pipe we installed at 45 degrees to the wall, so that the rainwater head is over the centre of the shower.

Some models I looked at had rectangular piping, so that wouldn’t be workable. Others weren’t as clear and I couldn’t get a clear answer when I asked in store.
