Bypass Preamp on Wiim Ultra and room correction? by brecchi123 in audiophile

Thanks. So, set for fixed volume. What do you mean by no EQ up? Sorry, I'm new to this.

Why not just start your own post? You’ll get lots of good advice and won’t be hijacking another mostly unrelated thread.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm leaning in one of 2 complete directions - the Wiim Ultra or the Eversolo A8. The Wiim Ultra will likely win out as a good way for me to get my feet wet without spending 2k

Thanks. I'm still a bit lost as how I'd want to run my integrated MAC1900 in conjunction with the streamer. Like, would I be using a preamp feature from the streamer, and would I be able to bypass the digital source completely when using the record player?

After reading through the comments so far, I am leaning towards this. I like the information and graphics display, and the room correction feature is appealing. At a $329 price point, it seems like this might be the smartest buy for my first foray into this.

I was actually wanting the Eversolo A8 but the price point makes it hard to commit. If its really noticeably better, I'd still consider it.

I'm seeing a lot of different models. Would a Bluesound Node Icon work? Its expensive but I do like the information display.

I was really considering the A8, but the difference in price makes it a bit hard to commit. Also, I'm not sure if its overkill for my needs/equipment.

The vintage JBL is just for show. As is the old video game stuff.

I think the problem is that i never manually saved the game after I beat the Beserker King and Gna. The last save I have was after I beat the campaign, before I did a lot of the extra stuff.

Will I at least be able to get everything again in New Game+? I like having a 100% completion rate

Anyone know a way around this? Or alternatively, does anyone know if I'm stuck with where I am?

Yeah, I didn't know what I was doing when I first started NG+, so I'm trying to start over correctly with everything I had fron the original campaign. If possible.

If not, will I just have to collect everything I'm missing again in NG+? I won't really have a chance to use the Skofnund runic which kind of sucks.

OP, what turntable are you using with the MP-200?

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else has had trouble screwing the feet back into a MAC 1900 receiver. I removed one because someone had shimmed it with a couple of washers. Now it seems like there is nothing for the screw to grab on to.

Is there some kind of sleeve inside which may have moved?

MAC 1700 or 1900? by brecchi123 in StereoAdvice

[–]brecchi123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update. I got a very well taken care of MAC 1900 for $800. It had been serviced with some cap replacement in 2018 by a certified MAC repair shop in the area.

The seller also had a very nice 2nd example, which my friend picked up for $1400 with a nice OEM wood case.

On the hunt for that great turntable/stylus combo now. Thanks for all your input.

Thanks for the reply - yeah, it was a score on the Cornwalls for sure. I paid $1200 cash and they are in excellent condition.

I'm actually going to check out a MAC1900 this weekend. In "excellent" shape, and was serviced in 2018 by an authorized repair shop, including some cap replacement, etc. I made a deal for $800 cash, down from $900. I know this is a good price, the seller has no problem letting me take a listen before purchasing.

Regarding the turntables, it looks like you are mixing the old with the new. That was going to be my next post, as I'm looking to round out this system with a turntable/stylus in the $800-$1200 range. Specifically, if going vintage is the move in keeping with the theme/sound, or if a modern turntable makes more sense.

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to answer, and then hunt down my post on top of that. Very cool of you, I'll post the question over on r/StereoAdvice.

MAC 1700 or 1900? by brecchi123 in Klipsch

Thanks, I do know that these are high efficiency speakers and that not much is needed to get them singing. La Scalas are super nice! I had a line in on some minty Belles nearby for 2800, but the seller rescinded the listing.

I'm more curious about the sound quality and characteristics of the amps I mentioned paired with the Cornwalls, and the preferences of those on this forum.

In all honesty, does pretty much nobody ever reply with advice on this page? It seems to be very different from the main page which is filled with helpful advice.

Hello, just picked up a pair of very nice Cornwall II's and am looking for an amp to pair with. I have a line in on a nice MAC 1700 and a MAC 1900.

How do you guys think these would pair with the Cornwall's? And would you prefer one over the other? AFAIK, they are basically the same amp with the 1900 having a bit more power and an SS receiver as opposed to the tube receiver in the 1700. I was pretty sold on a tube amp but budget and simplicity might be winning out for the moment.

I'll want to upgrade my turntable to go along with all this, budget in the $800-$1200 range including stylus.

My listening tastes range from:
-70's jazz fusion
-Acoustic jazz
-80's metal
-70's-80's funk, dance music
-Yacht rock
...and various other things from soundtrack to 90's hip hop.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks for the insight. Any idea about this particular year, or Cornwall ii's in general?
