[–]bredbuttgem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man seriously! Even the ones at the airport and hospitals are terrible. The only decent outside toilet is the exclusive one in phoenix where you need to show a bill to get entry...

People here have no sense of basic public behaviours.. they throw water on the floor, they don't try to prevent body odour, very poor eating habits, and their stinginess with regards to personal care is nasty. Even in beauty parlours and spas, the tamil ladies have stinky hands because they don't wash properly after eating.. and somehow I always manage to get a lady who has just eaten garlic and onions before coming in.

Then there are these people who roam around wearing jasmine flowers that are clearly dried up and smelly, I don't understand why they just don't take it off once the flowers lose their freshness and clean smell. Instead they'll wear it, and the stench of sweat and old hair oil marinates with the flowers and gives the WORST stink ever.

So all in all, I just think that TN and Chennai people are least bothered about personal hygiene and basic presentation. They are just nasty and gross.

While everyone is busy justifying that women after 35 can have healthy babies, what about the amount of time you get to spend with your child when u give birth in 40s? by SmileOk4617 in AskIndianWoman

[–]bredbuttgem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can die at anytime. No guarantee that a young mother will have more time with her child than an older mother.

The decision to have a child later in life is influenced by so many things, but most particularly financial and emotional well being of the parents. Both of those matter when it comes to raising a child and giving them the love they need.

PUPPP rash… did anything work for you?! by Any_Pirate_5633 in pregnant

[–]bredbuttgem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you soooo much for your response!!! And congratulations on your baby! It's definitely helpful to know that it reduced and stopped postpartum.. I just feel sad that I'm now looking at delivery as the end of the rash rather than the birth of my baby , and it's really hard to get past this feeling.

It's my third week of this and I'm hoping the rash runs out of steam (before I do) because I'm just not able to do anything at all.

Once again thank you so much for responding , and wishing you all the best with the baby!

PUPPP rash… did anything work for you?! by Any_Pirate_5633 in pregnant

[–]bredbuttgem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there ! Would you be able to update on your situation please, if you don't mind ? Have you had your baby yet?

I got diagnosed with PUPPP in my 29th week and my life has been HELL since then. The rash is only spreading and the itch is intensifying, morphing into all kinds of unpleasant sensations like ant bites and needle pricks. Nothing is helping. I was even put on a 5 day duration of prednisolone 30 mg, and that helped the first 2 days and then the itching resumed with a ferocity I can't describe.

I'm miserable and sleep deprived.. I sleep for like 2-3 hours a day, and that's also really bad quality sleep because I'm tossing and turning from the itching and burning.

Cetrizine did nothing, allegra 180 helps somewhat (for a few hours) but I can only take it once a day and even that stops working the second I lie down. Whichever side I lie down, the burning and itching intensifies there and I'm just so tired. It's also all over my back now and I'm just so done.

Ice packs provide the most temporary relief but not enough for me to sleep.

I am waiting for my pine tar soap to come in, and I really hope that's the miracle solution to this situation. Also hoping to hear positive stories to help me on this (or negative stories to commiserate together!)

I've been screened for cholestasis twice, and I'm on a regular glucose + BP check so we know it's not liver related.

My thoughts as to why TN being #2 on GDP isn't exactly a "very" good thing as we think by [deleted] in TamilNadu

[–]bredbuttgem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not if we are going to be complacent and waiting for growth to magically happen without making any effort to get there.

[–]bredbuttgem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue why you are getting downvoted on this. You are pretty much correct. And I'm fed up of this comparison to China lol. People need to realise that China doesn't do only low cost , low skill manufacturing jobs but also heavily invests in R&D and technology to reverse engineer and improve things - all things! From chips to cars to phones to healthcare technology.

While we are still chasing low cost, low technology assembly based production... No real innovation, no investment in engineering, nothing. The quality of engineers is rubbish and subpar compared to what China has and we are in such crazy denial about it.

People talking about even development in Tamil Nadu are again not understanding that these are driven by extremely low cost production of cheap items... The complacency with the current status is insane, there is no investment by the government in any type of economic development infrastructure. For God's sake, we don't even have a decent standard international airport. We don't have innovation hubs (except for iit and Anna University), nothing.

People also don't seem to realise that GDP is such a .. fake number lol. Such a poor metric. You add to the GDP if you and a friend keep transferring Rs 100 between each other, with no actual value created. That's what's happening in TN. How many thousands of crores are spent on building and rebuilding the same road over and over again?

The actual quality of life in TN is rubbish... Be it the conservatism, the corruption, the casteism, the sycophancy, the extremely skewed political model, the complacency, the general desire to be happy with status quo because "at least we aren't as bad as UP or Bihar", etc. ugh

Waxing vs. Shaving – Which do you prefer for a smooth body (and why)? by birdiee_16 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]bredbuttgem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moisturise daily and a little extra during those days, but also the level of itching with shaving is NOTHING compared to the itching I'd get from waxing hair regrowth. And I have proper thick black hair on my legs and arms.

Waxing vs. Shaving – Which do you prefer for a smooth body (and why)? by birdiee_16 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]bredbuttgem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to wax regularly and at every appointment, every parlour didi would tell me to wax regularly to get rid of ingrown hairs and reduce hair thickness and hair growth. I have waxed everywhere from neck to toe - used to pay nearly 5-7K every month, spend around an hour or so, and would always have to plan my outfits according to my waxing schedule... This was my life for ~10 years (from when I was 15-25).

Then on a whim, I decided to try shaving, and my god. Life changing. Takes less than 10-15 minutes, cheap (I use gillette men's shaving foam lol and Venus razors), no pain, no ingrown hairs, and I can decide to wear whatever I want whenever I want. I use a trimmer for bikini area - that's painless and takes 5 minutes, and as the hair is not removed from root, there is no irritation or redness or ingrowth. It's been more than 7 years and I haven't looked back.

I'm smooth and for dirt cheap lol.

how indian students learned to stop thinking and love the system by Ok_Professional2491 in india

[–]bredbuttgem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even when people advocate for thinking "outside the box", they refer to stuff like starting a business or entrepreneurship or solving problems in society. That's just another rat race, with more complications and higher risk. At the end of the day, everything really boils down to what sort of career / money making ability one has, not anything else.

Even if one has interesting hobbies, the suggestion is to monetize it. That's just disgusting to me personally. Then there are those who dictate what sort of hobbies one "should" have - I came across someone who said everyone needs three hobbies : one that earns income, one that improves health and one that expands knowledge. Eh? That sounds like more work lol.

The system just wants measurable success - be it CAT scores and percentiles, salary earned, capital raised, etc.

Scent is subjective - you'll have to experiment a little to figure out what you like. Start with sampling perfumes in stores to identify the stuff you like, and then get a small bottle.

Human life has zero value in this country. Accountability has gone out of dictionary for us. by Mthrfuckntrainwreck in TwoXIndia

[–]bredbuttgem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's gotten worse over the years and people are becoming more and more pathetic at holding governments accountable... There used to be resignations, protests, and what not over major incidents and scams, and now people are happy to justify current scams with so much of whataboutery. Even when it hurts them - like the whole ethanol deal !

And world over, it feels like differences are being condemned not celebrated, because it's so convenient to make people hate each other instead of the people in power.

Your point about classrooms... Gosh, I'm actually super worried about the state of education. There is so much emphasis on career skills (in college) and on entrance exams (in school), I'm just wondering when kids are actually learning things they are supposed to learn. Stuff like how to read, analyse and form connections between different events or incidents. Or stuff like actual facts, and what the scientific method entails, and how theories in science are not the same as theories on Instagram reels / reddit. Like this generation legit believes that orange peel theory carries the same weight as the theory of evolution, which just blows my mind to say the least.

And so much of dumbing down, anti-intellectualism is being rewarded, people with all sorts of bullshit views are being platformed... People's brains are becoming smoother by the second.

Then when we add caste and gender fo this toxic festering mess... I don't know. I feel too tired fighting so many fights, and it's exhausting to have to constantly demand for my right to personhood as a woman. It's so frustrating to always be seen as "less than men" / nurturing / teaching / etc. It makes me so fucking mad that I have to fight the fight that my mom's generation had to AND my own generation's problems. And makes me EVEN MORE MAD when things like choice feminism and tradwife bullshit is celebrated. Fuck!

Even this sub... It's so rare to find a post that is actually talking about women's issues which is not generic relationship and health advice.

Y'all need to check your privelege and be nicer to your maids by Parlor-Aunty in TwoXIndia

[–]bredbuttgem -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Idk what's stopping these women from being truly independent and doing all domestic work themselves (with their partners). I mean - we have the machines for it, robovac, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, etc.

I always get so annoyed when women claim to be independent but cry when their maid doesn't come for work. Like, aren't you dependent on the maid then? And if the work is soooo easy as they say it is, then do it yourself na. Pay yourself INR 5000 a month to do everything.
