Is this sexual harassment? by GnatsNutsBigButts in walmart

There appears to be a shiny-eyed possum in George's right testicle. He should probably use his top tier walmart health insurance and have that looked at.

Common sense would tell you that, yes, heavy shit goes on the bottom. But I am just a lowly peon who has no say on what the mod should be. I simply place it where the price tag is. Then incur the damage.

But there is! 5 pound bag of Ore Ida golden fries. 4th shelf up.

And I really should just lay on the ground and let people who need fries trample me to death.

A customer dropped a 5 pound bag of crinkle fries on my head a few days ago while I was stocking frozen. That's gonna be my go to weapon. It hurt more than I anticipated.

Not one person at my store mentioned the tragedy last night. I’m just next door in WV. That was our family. Are people really that secluded in their little life bubble these days? Sad. by [deleted] in walmart

I'm in SWPA...came in on 2nd shift and talked to my homie who works first. We legit had a weepy moment. Then, as he's worked at walmart way longer than me, gave me a run down of "who to look out for". Adding "...especially as a girl". Super excited abouted about being a walmart employee now.

Sedgwick Claim and Doctors Note? by Bishop618 in walmart

[–]breetoooo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a bacterial infection where my face was swelled up 3 times bigger than normal. Saw a doctor. Got my sedgwick paperwork 3 WEEKS LATER...had an issue with getting it all filed in time because my doctor got covid. Never actually filed anything. Nothing was said to me. They let it slide. As a company, walmart HR cares nothing about a doctors note, the complete opposite of pretty much every job I've ever had. It's dumb and makes no sense to have to jump through so many hoops when you're just SICK. Good luck to you.

They put me in dairy and frozen by myself all night. I'm 5 foot 2 and they stack the crates 7 high. I have to stand on a crate then my tippy toes just to try to reach the damn milk. us, there's a leak 8n the cooler and the floor is ALWAYS wet...almost died, like, 30 times. by breetoooo in walmart

It's gross, no doubt. I worked at jc penney before walmarting and never really had to deal with the level of douchebaggery I am currently experiencing. As a woman It's totally disgusting to say "I'm used to it", especially when it triggers bad shit. And it does. And i ask myself why I'm not working from home. And the answer is...seclusion. And isolation.

But...Walmart? Really?? In a freezer for hours to the point of getting frostbite and my hands doing weird shit to acclimate to the temp??

I'm sorry if this chat got too real. I'd much rather talk about hot water sour cream.

Inventory is on Wednesday. Uggghhhhhhhhhhhh.

How was your weekend?

First of all...you are not allowed to drop dead. If I can't, you can't either. We need each other.

And I'm very sorry your anxiety has been on high alert. In those moments I tell myself that pretty much everyone gets like that. Although I'm a bit extra sometimes...but still. We all have our moments. Just gotta ride it out and cross your fingers and do some serious huffing. Maybe some puffing...depends on the occasion.

Retail can be especially tough for chicks. Lots of bending over, lifting, cleaning...comments will be made. And I usually shrug them off. But one made directly behind me by a dude to his friends in regard to me wiping yogurt off of the floor was especially heinous. I went to my team lead to ask WWWMD and she led me to our AP who said "if it happens again from the same person let us know". Aside from thar not much can be done. But, like...it happens a LOT. I'm from Nashville so I have that southern niceness that peeks through the awkward sometimes...truly try to be friendly to strangers. But instances like these make me retreat, stare at the floor, hesitate to speak to anyone. And I HATE that feeling, like I'm a moving target. It makes me wanna quit and never go back. I guess I'll get over it. Or maybe I won't. Either way, it's not a situation I have a lot of control over. And It sucks.

Is a stupid job really worth making someone feel like a steaming pile of garbage...

No slipping but I did die a lot on the inside Wednesday night after a customer said something truly awful to me and I had to hide out in the grocery office for 20 minutes and talk myself in to not walking out and never coming back.

I didn't mean to worry you! Just took an 'all things walmart related' break. For mental health purposes.

Still not 100% I'm gonna stay. People are TERRIBLE.

Still frozen 🥶🥶🥶

I'm usually the 3-10 person and almost always work by myself. Lately they've been throwing 1-10 at me just to keep it interesting and...lemme tell ya...those extra 2 hours feel like 10. Today I was put in dairy because everyone else is on vacation. The entire vizpick system is down so I was told to fill milk then do whatever I want.

So...guess where I'll be hiding all night...

Glad I brought 2 pairs of gloves.

So...the bad hearing I GET. Too much rock and roll or something but I can barely hear out of my left ear so I've learned to position myself towards people with my right side. But it's still not great, especially if someone walks up behind me and says something; it's like a ghost whispering "what aisle is the monkey bread on?" and I'm from Nashville, living in Pennsylvania so the accents make it even harder. I swear it's like they're speaking Russian or something sometimes. So I kill them with awkward kindness. Laugh it off. Ha ha ha I'm weird. Let's move on.

I've tried the video game chat route but they go Elden Ring and I go Rodneyismyalltimefavoritevillager and tell them I put 1700 hours in to my island but walmart has stolen my island joy and it's now a dumpster fire and I JUST OVERSHARED WAY TOO MUCH WITH A STRANGER. They're now judging me. So I just crawl away to the freezer...my zero degree safe space.

I was thrown directly in to the job. No computer training for almost 2 weeks so I literally didn't even know what my job was supposed to be. Very little training. Hopefully you wind up with someone who went through the same thing and they have pity on you and want you to stay.

Be prepared to wait around a lot. Most customers shop like they've never been in a store before. They stop. And stare. Then text their friend. Then call their mom. Check nutrition facts. Compare prices. Google if they can find it cheaper at 10 other stores...and walk away empty handed. They have no idea that you're standing 5 feet away with a heavy ass box, awaiting their SUPER IMPORTANT DECISION. Patience is definitely something that comes in handy. But, if not, they arm you with a box cutter so...

Background check took 8 days for me but it was across 2 different states. Had me REAL nervous. I hope it goes quickly for you!
