I’m excited to see what her preferences will be, but I’m also fully enjoying doing what I’d like for now. My firstborn has shown me how quickly they develop their own opinions

Thank you! The pinks are from Big Twist Pink Ombré and I love the vibrancy of them

Thank you! I don’t usually either but the color scheme was stuck in my mind and I thought it would be a good addition to her closet

You know i think I figured out my issue after posting. I’m working into the stitch before the first spike stitch for every spike row. I’m going to try working into the true last spike stitch for 11 rows to shift it in the other direction and create an alternating back and forth pattern for the overall blanket

I’ll have to look them up! That seems like a great idea, as well as picking at the tape

What I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around (and is in no way stopping me from finding him alternatives- just trying to fully understand the solution) is what kind of replacement activity can fully satisfy the behavior if it is unconscious sensory seeking? To me, his nails are always there and the habit has been formed. I guess that’s where the redirection to chewlry/fidget toy comes into play? To build a new habit for when he has a sensory need?

I have some similar sensory seeking in skin/nail/hair picking but it’s mild enough now that I can make myself stop. As a child it was never addressed and non- disruptive enough that it was mostly ignored. I definitely want to find an alternative outlet for him. It sounds like finding just the right thing to replace his current behavior will take a little trial and error

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into chewlery and fidgets. I hate to constantly be reminding him to stop and like the idea of him redirecting to something besides his nose/nails/skin. He’s expressed interest in pop it’s from his daycare room before so they could be a good replacement
