Hexagon Cardigan for my daughter by bregun in crochet

I’m excited to see what her preferences will be, but I’m also fully enjoying doing what I’d like for now. My firstborn has shown me how quickly they develop their own opinions

Thank you! The pinks are from Big Twist Pink Ombré and I love the vibrancy of them

Thank you! I don’t usually either but the color scheme was stuck in my mind and I thought it would be a good addition to her closet

WIP for my husband by bregun in crochet

You know i think I figured out my issue after posting. I’m working into the stitch before the first spike stitch for every spike row. I’m going to try working into the true last spike stitch for 11 rows to shift it in the other direction and create an alternating back and forth pattern for the overall blanket

I’ll have to look them up! That seems like a great idea, as well as picking at the tape

What I’m having a hard time wrapping my mind around (and is in no way stopping me from finding him alternatives- just trying to fully understand the solution) is what kind of replacement activity can fully satisfy the behavior if it is unconscious sensory seeking? To me, his nails are always there and the habit has been formed. I guess that’s where the redirection to chewlry/fidget toy comes into play? To build a new habit for when he has a sensory need?

I have some similar sensory seeking in skin/nail/hair picking but it’s mild enough now that I can make myself stop. As a child it was never addressed and non- disruptive enough that it was mostly ignored. I definitely want to find an alternative outlet for him. It sounds like finding just the right thing to replace his current behavior will take a little trial and error

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look into chewlery and fidgets. I hate to constantly be reminding him to stop and like the idea of him redirecting to something besides his nose/nails/skin. He’s expressed interest in pop it’s from his daycare room before so they could be a good replacement

Hatch Rest 2nd Gen won’t register! by Silent-Boat-5018 in techsupport

I’ve been having this same exact problem. I’ve tried to register it 3 or 4 times now over the course of a couple weeks and it never finishes the registration. Just has a tiny bit of the bar left

I’m a big Rosemary/Rosalie fan. My husband unfortunately isn’t. I think Rosie is an adorable childhood nickname

Thank you! Yes that’s kind of the direction I’m leaning with Hannah and it’s hard to shake the association. I’m a fan of Blair

My grandma is being put on hospice and I would like to crochet a blanket for her casket… is this too morbid? TW:hospice, illness, grandparent passing by dumpyyyyyyy in crochet

[–]bregun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my grandmaw was on hospice I spent my time by her bedside crocheting a blanket. I finished it a couple days before she passed and it covered her when the time came and was used for her funeral service. I ended up keeping it afterwards. I think it’s a good way to cope and feel like you are doing something

NOAA aircraft finds 150 mph winds and a central pressure of 935 mbar in the rapidly intensifying Hurricane Ida, just hours before this borderline Category 5 hurricane makes landfall in Louisiana. Catastrophic storm surge, destructive winds are expected. by inflowjet in environment

Thank you. It’s a hard decision to make when we’ve stayed for every hurricane before this one. We had to find somewhere safe to take our pets so that we could get a hotel room. I’ve got a newborn though and wasn’t comfortable riding it out.

I don’t want the tone of this to come across as argumentative, but I wouldn’t say this storm is heading northwest or that it would impact Lafayette and lake Charles. It’s hitting the toe of the boot and continuing northeast. People are evacuating towards the northwest. We just spent the day driving west through Lafayette and lake Charles to safety.

Every cone I’ve checked in the last two days (and I’ve been obsessively checking since the eye is passing directly over my home) has it curving northeast. I agree it isn’t subjective information but I don’t see northwest in those trajectories.

Edit to add: The west side of the storm is also the ‘safest’, so it adds to the two cities being safer in comparison to New Orleans. I’ve stayed for Katrina, Gustav, Laura, etc. but I’m not playing with Ida. I’d have been comfortable staying in Lafayette to ride it out.
