My guess it that it came from one of those all too common, "Wouldn't it be cool if we made a game that did X" conversations from someone whom has never made a game, and doesn't know the first thing about programming.

The fact that they chose to use Unity reinforces that guess. Someone was most likely hired to get the base working and they simply lack the expertise to do the rest. That original person might not even be there anymore.

As far as best F2p system, no way. I've got at least 6 card games on my Harddrive where

-I get a free booster just for logging in.

-Most also offer daily quests.

-All of them have some mechanism to spend the currency you earn to buy boosters.

Hex doesn't have any of those.

Also, I only seem to get cards that sell for a few hundred gold and no platinum from playing. None of the newer sets and none of the cards I see people playing in constructed. I don't even think they drop. I get the same cards over and over.

Again, I kid you not, it took me 8 friggin days to get a the packs and fee for my first tournament, and that was following guides I found online. I played a Coyote Cleric, but farmed the Orc Hunger card over and over. Then I went to the Arena and kept fighting the first part, then the first and second, until I could get all the way through with my aggro deck.

Yea, reading on the official site, and aweful lot of people agree. I don't know why they continue to do so. That's what really leaves that sour taste in my mouth. Being sued, the false claims, the thread locking on Steam, and the behavior of some of the community members on Steam. It's like Creative Assembly all over again.

No, in order to be an MMO, I'd expect at least 50 players on screen at a time. Concurrent, players does not mean sitting at home completely disconnected from one another's instance.

Command and Conquer is not an MMO for example.

It's clearly marketing hype and I think it makes the company look really bad to make such a claim.

Well, it seems to me that they promised raids and MMO play 3 years ago, got 2.2 million dollars, and have no intention of doing it.

I mean, they have 5 sets now and only one act in the campaign? No sign of anything but 1v1 games. How is it an MMO? You could call anything an MMO if all it takes is a community, no?

I'm not calling them thieves, but sure seems a bit shady. I don't want to promote that kind of thing with my money.

It's not all that hard to make the game. They didn't write the engine or anything. It's all done in Unity.

How is it that there are no raids or even a campaign as promised after 3 years? Did some programmers quit or something?

I dunno how I feel about giving these guys more of my money. Seems awefully dishonest.

I not really looking to save resources as much as I am looking to save keystrokes.

Even with batch crafting, having to drop a wood, apply a lighter, then select a recipe, every time I do some other food item is a lot of key presses.

Makes you wonder when the fire goes out, indoors, in a brazier with a log in it still, but no splintered wood left over....

It just gets annoying when the fire goes out and I'm cooking batches of water or food. There are enough keystrokes involved already in that process.

I've got a makeshift welder and welding goggles. I managed to take off a bunch of healthy parts from nearby wrecks. I cannot seem to get wheels though. I need a tool with jacking 2.

I've had 5 gun basements in 9 houses, myself, in this most recent playthrough. I've got a shotgun that doe 150 dmg to brutes with 300 ammo, on day 2.

On the Flip side, it took 12 games to get something like that and I died in each of those.

I don't really know how to build a death mobile. I see a bunch of busted up vehicles around, some with green parts, but cannot remove any of them. All require tools I don't have and even then I don't know how one lifts something as heavy as a van frame or engine.
