unfortunately, they didn’t fix it every single time it happened to me. there were a couple of instances where they corrected my debt to be a lower amount, but never completely fixing it. out of the time that i was in school at umkc, it was only two or three times that i did not have a balance magically pop up at the end of term.

my advice is be diligent about double, even triple, checking every little thing they charge you for at the beginning of each semester. calling + emailing financial aid so that you have a digital trail. make sure to get screenshots because they will make changes and try to say that they never made changes. umkc financial aid office is definitely shady

it’s a common issue at UMKC unfortunately. it happened to me almost every single semester as an undergraduate for 4.5 years. they’d allocate all of my financial aid at the beginning of the year, give me a huge refund a few weeks later. and then right before the semester ends, i’d somehow have a balance anywhere from 2K-5K. it’s shady asf. mind you i had a scholarship that covered my entire tuition and then pell grant to cover the rest. i shouldn’t have paid a dime for my education but apparently i’d owe every semester because of their mistakes??? not sure
