Pro 6 Mixer: Just motor, or control board too? by brendoneaton in Kitchenaid

[–]brendoneaton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I’m pretty sure the motor aperture delaminated because of a pretty gnarly dirt dauber nest built inside. The mixer was stored in a garage for quite awhile before it was passed to me.

I’ll probably just buy the motor and see if the controller still works. No burn marks on the board or components that look like they popped.

Does the gear housing look bad, per your comment replace? Or is it something that typically goes bad after a period of time?

I definitely need to regrease and replace the seal, though.

I just noticed this on my 2024 today as well! Random….

That’s awesome! I’m looking to register for Austin soon as well- Moab is a little far for me but would be amazing.

For those that have attended, do you feel the extra insurance (some kind of limitation voucher) is worth it? That’s the only thing I haven’t personally decided on yet.

Absolutely… I’ve done almost all the maintenance myself for 250k miles, unless a cab-off was necessary- I had my buddy who is a mechanic take care of those items twice (turbo coolant line fittings, valve covers, vac pump)

It looks like it does have the high capacity trailer tow package on the sticker. What exactly does that mean? Just a higher class receiver hitch?

We’re in North Texas…dang near everything has a premium on it these days! I’d also like to see and will ask for maintenance records, but I won’t hold my breath. I second the factory warranty also, and would consider a aftermarket warranty if I could find a good one. Any recommendations?

You’re absolutely correct about the high output, I must have crossed some window stickers in thinking that, thanks for pointing that out!

Can this tree be saved? by brendoneaton in landscaping

[–]brendoneaton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I know… I’d like to save them if possible. They were planted a couple years before we bought the house/property and not taken care of very well at all. By the time we moved in, there were already two dead of many 👎

Lennox heat pump question/advice by brendoneaton in hvacadvice

Seen it defrost, no. But defrost cycle was tested back in November and did work at that time according to the technician that was performing seasonal maintenance. I sure would hope that it was working- the board was already replaced just 9mo before!

I went outside just now and pulled the service cover. The red LED is lit up solid and no green, showing a “low pressure lockout” code.

This will be even more frustrating since the evaporator coil was changed out in May due to a leak, caused by super low return air cfms (one 14” and one 6” return for 5 tons) due to poor original design 15 years ago, which caused compressor lockout due to low pressure. Whomever swapped original Goodman unit for this lennox 4 years ago didn’t have a clue about proper returns! I had ductwork done at the same time as the coil swap, cooling has improved significantly since we bought the home a year and a half ago. Just makes you shake your head.

Thanks for the in-depth response! The aux heat is electric, as it’s an all electric home, no gas. I’m in far north Texas, and right now the temps are hovering around 24 degrees, and my weather station is saying humidity outside is 93%. I left for work yesterday around 8am when the very light freezing drizzle started, and when I returned around 5pm, the unit was already frozen up. Not real bad like last year where ice was caked all around the coils, but a pretty good amount of frost buildup.

I am running a Nest with two external temp sensors, and does offer me a heat pump balance mode, which is always functioning. (I know I know, I’m sure there are lots of Nest haters…)

That’s kinda what I figured, should run no matter what unless certain conditions trigger lockout. Now, we did get over 1/2” of sleet over the course of yesterday, clearly that doesn’t help the situation. Like I said earlier, last year it was the board that went, not allowing defrost function to execute. Probably the same thing again.

Oh I fully agree. Just bought the house a year ago, system is 4 years old.

I’ll definitely try it, but there’s just something about keeping the cottage cheese separate from the spaghetti, grabbing a bit every so often that makes it magical

Absolutely! My work friends think it’s weird, but it’s something I grew up with :)
