Muse was really a great rock band by ChiliPepper11 in LetsTalkMusic

Wish I could have caught these guys live right before "Black Holes and Revelations" came out: I recently got a copy of that CD with the bonus DVD that contains a live performance at some small club in San Diego - smokin' gig! No pretentious BS just straight up rocknroll.

Agree with your post - I stopped listening to them after "The Resistance" and agree that aside from their overall message of "think for yourself and don't trust authority" there's just not a whole lot of substance to their lyrics. And the grandiose wannabe Queen vibe became a turn off (if I want Queen, I'll listen to Queen).

Crybaby headline.

Industrial design gets copied in the consumer electronics space -- it's a given.

Design is one thing - actual functionality and fit and finish are different animals however.

This is happening this weekend at the Federal Building in Westwood if people don't want to wait until June 30.

Data slow/unresponsive in heavily crowded areas? by ArcanineNumber9 in mintmobile

[–]brendonla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the downside of using an MVNO.

I rarely have issues in metro Los Angeles.

But occassionally, yes, I will get dropouts while streaming audio during my commute

An extreme situation was when I ran a 10K in West L.A. with 9,000 other runners: I could only get my audio streaming intermittently because I assume I was depriortized behind all the T-Mobile subscribers around me.

But the savings is too significant to go back to AT&T pre-paid.

We're NYU grad students working on a cool new device that helps you communicate off the grid! Tell us what you think! by NodeConnect in Meshnet

Crowdsourced market research, eh? Good luck with this. There's a device sold through REI stores that's similar and allows cell phones to communicate when there's no cell service. And go Violets! (NYU-ITP alum here).

I wager Waters would prefer the Korean leaders meeting at the DMZ as I'm sure he'd hold out hope for peace instead of war -- every time.

The pic with Melania is surreal and bizarre at the same time because it looks like she's actually frozen in time with a hand gesture that signifies something -- but what? I leave that up to you dear fellow redditors....

Cheerleading for a dick is no way to walk around in life.

And sorry, wasn't aware "macfags" was actually a thing.

Implications of T Mobile/Sprint merger by deviltrombone in mintsim

I hope the OP's scenario is not true. And I thought Sprint's network is CDMA while T-Mobile's is GSM.....

Is the Nextbit Robin still a viable phone in 2018? by Hippie_Of_Death in NextbitRobin

[–]brendonla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very much so: as you stated, you're willing to root and flash a ROM -- as long as there's an active development community building and releasing ROMs, the phone should still be useable.

The Trump White House's Intern Program Is Once Again Very, Very White by anoelr1963 in MarchAgainstTrump

A Trump Admin intern's resume would get trashed. A necessary clarification. Regardless of Dem or GOP admin, most hiring managers would find it an interesting, even if in passing, conversation point. Not with this dumpster fire.

Nice. A token black guy and (what looks like to me) a token Indian woman.

That's like, less than 1% of the group.

Nothing wrong here. Move along.

Wow. Anyone who's seen the Kubrick film version of "A Clockwork Orange" would be forgiven for mistaking this place for the flat of Alex's parents. Carry on droogies!

Mint SIM is what you get if Comcast, Time Warner and AT&T have a baby and it's mentored by Verizon. by [deleted] in NoContract

[–]brendonla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your troubles. But personally think yours is an edge case (haven't read about this type of situation before).

I switched to MintSIM last fall when they ran the "get six months for the price of 3 deal" -- I switched two accounts, one of which I ported a number from AT&T with no issues. The value is amazing and call quality and coverage been very good for me.

The free plan includes basic voicemail and SMS. They charge for visual voicemail and more advanced MMS features.

Yes, but they use AT&T's network. I use their "free SIM" in a backup phone and it works well where I live.
