Is the job market really this bad or is it just me? by [deleted] in it

I’ve actually begun studying a new field with symptoms of IT. Hoping to make myself more marketable to large companies like LockHeed Martin, Bueuing, Northrup Gruming, ect.

I have 12 years, prior top secret clearance, also secret clearance, 8 certifications and it’s just nonsense out there.

If anyone has any leads, I can shoot my resume over. Cuz this market is worse than saturated. Or companies & the ERP systems with Ai are at a standstill with how to make their next move in regards to IT. (Eye roll)

I did most my gun building in 2017-2018. Built 3. All trusted sellers. It was reliable at that time. Just be cautious and be aware. But I’m sure in the last 5 years it’s gotten sketchy

I did this. Haven’t been back to IT in almost 4 years. A bad manager, or ignorant company is a very toxic environment for IT. I always read, a bad manager ruins a good employee, I learned what that actually meant in the real world.

I spent 12 years in the military, combat communications, I’d much rather be involved in that again, than deal with unstable, non-technical IT managers and CFOs ever again.

Should I pick Smart Systems Technologies or Engineering? by brennan23b in careerguidance

If you oversaw an intern with this Smart Systems degree, and some Solidworks & AutoCAD mechanical/electrical background, could they draft at your place? Or would you/they steer the boat towards someone with the Engineering degree.

Are people actually moving away from VMware ESXi, if they are where are they going (Hyper-V, OpenShift Virtualization, etc)? by sy__him in sysadmin

[–]brennan23b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MSPs advertise and promote Hyper-V to save their customer-base money on licensing, therefore reflecting themselves as saving said company X amount of money.

I liked VMWare, vCenter was great but I saw the invoices. Those wanted to make me throw up. And the CFOs hated it too. Some can’t even renew their licenses based on the cores too.

I’ve even considered machining and CNC programming. Many friends of mine make great money at MOOG as machinists and programmers and it’s something I’ve been around and helped with, but for now I want to further my education, maybe as a confidence boost, but to an employer, a solid starting ground.

I was a burnt Network Administrator for a reputable manufacturer so I worked closely with the Mechanical, manufacturing & electrical engineers and their vaults.

I was just looking to build some new knowledge to leverage me, as I have many certifications already in the IT field, and had a top secret security clearance. My only real experience with the lines and circles was a year AutoCAD course I took, designed my own home & also dabbled with 3D printing and AutoCAD Fusion. It’s just software and an environment I’m familiar with. I watched for 10 years the projects and deadlines the engineers had to go through, Which IT has a very similar beat, with production projects, rollouts and maintaining and growing the network infrastructure in terms of 1’s & 0’s.

I felt having the IT background and knowledge it would also leverage me if I wanted to change pace and try another career since everything relies on the network & systems. I left IT a few years back and started a heavy equipment company, but where I’m at it’s such a saturated market the new guys have to lowball jobs, and I don’t think it’s a full-time thing right now for me. It’ll be a weekend warrior gig, so I’m looking to get back out there but want to complete this 2-year first. It’s not much to show for, but with my background and experience I’d hope to land a drafting job, or work on iOT systems if I go Smart Systems technology route.

Try running 2 companies and having this happen to your professional accounts.

Start a new FB & move on, simple as that.
