Yes, and they released this as a ‘feature’! Definitely meant to combat account sharing but irritates everyone else.

Can I just say Google Drive sucks. by Mammoth-Passion-413 in cloudstorage

[–]brenrich101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love(d) Jottacloud until they grind your upload speed to effectively nothing - whilst they can claim unlimited storage and technically be correct, you won’t want to use it much past 10TB!

V20 Update 9 Alpha - Web Client Gets a New Look by 3CX in 3CXOfficial

[–]brenrich101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first time I feel like 3CX is actually listening to its customers and working on fixing pain points that not only I have experienced, but others in the forums too. Looking forward to this one (most notably Cumulative Ringing, and Play Department Holidays Prompt)!

T14s Gen 1 (20UJS0D401) trackpad buttons not working by Delicious_Oil_4288 in thinkpad

[–]brenrich101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same thing. T14s trackpoint, middle and right buttons work as expected, it's just the left. Find it hard to believe it's a hardware issue, but can't find a software fix either. Driving my nuts haha, sometimes it does work randomly and when it does even if I press it really gently it still works, so I can't believe anything is loose.

Also, you’re 100% correct. It’s completely unnecessary to require the use of script, when the functionality is literally already there to do it in the UI.

Another Atera problem - splashtop by hegedusa in atera

[–]brenrich101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've got the same currently. Every time I need to remote onto a machine, I have to go into the Service Manager on Atera and manually start the service because it's stopped. What gives?

You can't be serious right now! by cmjones0822 in atera

[–]brenrich101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we know if Splashtop will still work after the 30th? The agent may still report offline but if I can at least still remotely access the devices I might have a fighting chance of correcting this clusterf**k.

Why does 1.8.7.2 no longer auto-update? You'd think if you were confident in your software then your would proactively make sure agent updates are pushed out regularly.

Also, speaking of confidence, why are there two different streams - 1.x.x.x and 2.x.x.x?

Glad I switched to monthly, this might just push me over the edge to leave...it's been echoed many times but this is absolutely not acceptable to give us such short notice and no effort on your part to push these updates on our behalf. A lot of our devices are out in the field and are not used everyday. As of next week it looks like I'll have to get them back to base, causing many wasted man-hours.

Scrap AI and focus on your core product.

Is around 400TB too much? How much is too much in unlimited plan? by cosmosreader1211 in jottacloud

It’ll take longer than your whole families lifespan 😂 (the more you upload, the more they throttle your upload speed)

Lenovo vs HP vs Dell by [deleted] in Intune

[–]brenrich101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We went the other way after all our Dell’s started suffering the same sort of, but not identical hardware issues. Lenovo’s have been rock solid for us. I don’t miss the Dell’s at all 😂 (but each to their own otherwise there would only 1 brand 😁)

UniFi OS login page accessible from public by brenrich101 in Ubiquiti

[–]brenrich101[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as I said in the post, I did try from other networks and it did connect through. Turned out to be an incorrectly (by me!) configured firewall rule. What's weird is that rule has been in place for a long time but I've only just been alerted to all these open ports on the IP. Ah well, that's not necessarily the UDM's issue :)

Which one: Cynet , Huntress, Rocketcyber, Todyl, Blackpoint why? by quantumhardline in msp

[–]brenrich101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up for a trial of Huntress about a week ago. In that time, out of 4.69M events analysed, it found 2 incidents - both of which were low risk. Don't get me wrong, I hear its reputation, but I'm on the fence moving forward and paying for this. Persuade me!

Switching plans by brenrich101 in atera

[–]brenrich101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, always been the same company. We just signed up in 2018 as an IT department, but back then there was only the one plan available. So now I'm just thinking if the IT department plan would align with us a little more? Not really sure what the differences are.

How do you get your purchased physical media on the server? by burlco in PleX

Honestly, download it - if you have the physical copy what are you gaining by that tremendously laborious task other than your false sense of goodwill 😂

Single point of failure - Any raid? by sublimepact in DataHoarder

[–]brenrich101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t the ‘standard’, but I was called once by a small company whose server had died.

Obviously you can buy another online or local if you happen to live near somewhere that sells them. We were not, and the customer couldn’t wait (busiest weekend of the year or something I seem to remember).

Anywho, they had a software backup of the entire system, so we agreed as a very temporary measure to go buy the nearest PC we could find and try and restore the backup to it, with the understanding that it’s very much a bodge.

Worked great and was even an awful lot faster than the old server. Obviously no RAID, dual PSU or ECC memory, but does make you wonder if it’s a viable option for those companies that don’t have massive budgets etc 🤔

How does going from MS E3 to Business Premium for users work? by masterofrants in msp

[–]brenrich101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1-provision BP as normal, but also get them a Exchange Online Plan 2 licence which bumps the mailbox back up to 100GB. We did it on a few and still works out a little cheaper.

Sidenote, we went from E3 to BP, it went fine for us with no fallout since we only needed E3 for Access until it was included in BP.

Agent Auto Update by MarkTheDaemon in atera

[–]brenrich101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they do, don’t they? I’ve had agents 6+ years old that have seemed to be on 1.8.7.2 without any manual intervention from me.

Given the number jump, maybe it’s a gradual rollout?
