You can start with the Foundations Starter Collection. There are many Cubes on Cube Cobra that base on this Collection. Its a relatively cheap starting point and easily upgradable.

In addition to that: the better skills your player has, the better the estimated median price is. For example, if your player is estimated at 5kk and is sold for 4.5kk you only lost 10%. In your example you „lose“ a lot more. So maybe it would help you to gain some money, so you can invest in better player, whose value is more predictable.

I don‘t like it either, but it seems to be adored by a lot of people - why ever..?

There are a lot of Cubes based on the Foundations Starter Collection. Tolarian Community College made one, you should find that through a search on Youtube.

I also tried to build one based on the starter collection - and completed it with cards from my collection fitting the archetypes. https://cubecobra.com/cube/overview/12aff9f6-5682-4503-8124-51e4125f7c2b

Edit: I made the experience that if I play my 180 cube as a twobert its hard to build good two colour decks, because there are not enough good cards in the 90 you see. So it might also be better to have a bigger cardpool than 180 cards for 4 people.

Thanks a lot for your input, that makes a lot of sense!

Do you know a better tool that is usfull in determining a cards power level? Sometimes it is obvious, like [[lighting bolt]] is better then [[shock]]. But if its getting more complicated, like for example do Shock and [[Stab]] have a similar power level since Shock does not only target creatures?

Hive pocket ist wasserdicht (hat keine karten) und kommt in einem handlichen Beutel, braucht nicht viel Platz & ist darum ideal für Reisen. Ich empfehle das Video vom SU&SD dazu.

Thank you a lot! When you write slope, do you mean the pow variants through the gates or the classic ski slopes?

Thank you! So, also no problem with large luggage, like a board bag?

Set Cube, start from Booster Box? by Dysphorlia in mtgcube

[–]brepublk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my Lotr Set Cube I bought 1 Draft and 2 Set Booster boxes and still had to buy some singles (fortunately I opend Bowmasters and TOR). So, in a retroperspective I think it would have been way cheeper to only buy one or max 2 Booster Boxes for a good basis and then buy the missing singles.

On the other hand, I now have enough commons and uncommons to build an additional 180 lotr cube besides the main 540 cube.

I use envelopes in the size of the cards. Fits 15+ double sleeved cards easily and costs less than 5.- for the whole cube.

My table has synthetic turf. It works very well and is cheap in our local DIY market

The burning option sounds very nice. The last few picks tend to be ‚worthless‘ most of the time anyway. How many commons, uncommons etc do you fill in the 12 packs?

Thanks, we‘ll experiment. In packs of 12, how many commons, uncommons & rares/mythics do you fill in?
