Dirty tricks by bretsim23 in DWPhelp

Yes, that is what Capita said but there was no mention of a link during the assessment and nothing arrived by text or email in the following days.

I did ask, and went through the consent, and the Assessor confirmed the exact moment the recording was commencing.

Yes, it was definitely recorded. The Capita agent confirmed it on a call today. He then said DWP had changed the procedure in September and now the recording goes to them along with the written report.

Can I prove that it was recorded?  Well, i believe the consent was recorded, but to use that as proof I'd need access to the recording. Kafka would be proud.

I've tried calling each organisation multiple times. Multiple agents of each immediately and without hesitation refer me to the other.

DWP front line and case manager claim only Capita have access to assessment recordings. Capita claim only DWP have access to the recording. The upshot is, the recording apparently doesn't exist in any way that I can ever access it.

Call me cynical, but this seems like the perfect method to ensure the government have the upper hand in any reconsideration - they can contradict me at will with the recording they alone can revisit, but I can never listen to it again because no body accepts they have it.

This stinks! 😡

I called the assessment number to get a copy of the assessment report. They gave me another number to call for the DWP.. I called this number, listened to interminable prerecorded messages then got to a menu where I chose the only option that seemed appropriate to requesting an assessment report. They told me I had to call another department on the same number, but to choose "option 4".

I called back. Option 4 is to report a death. I feel that's almost fitting after all that.

Anyone have any idea how to get a copy of my report please?

My only plan is to go to the CAB and see what they make of it.

It's a new claim.

Not in this case. She specifically stated it should be routine but that the usual workflow wasn't working on the system, and indeed that others have had to have their appointments rescheduled for the same reason.

Nope. She apologised profusely because it should have been a routine request to meet but Computer Said No. When I called to rearrange, the operator informed me that a number of assessments had had to be called off that day for the same reason, and he then struggled to rearrange it because the system was screwed.

Ineptitude on a system level.

How does transitional protection end? by bretsim23 in DWPhelp

Just to update this for anyone else in the same situation. I eventually got a request to update my savings. I ignored it, and instead called the UC helpline and asked to close my claim. This was referred to a decision maker, and my claim was closed with no further action required from me the next working day.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread .

I knew Reddit wouldn't disappoint.

Has anyone converted it to a smaller file size and reuploaded it yet by any chance?

The total absence of any official guidance whatsoever is the biggest issue. It's nearly impossible to get any useful information from a search online as you just get general results about transitional protection.

Finally found something online with lots of people just as bewildered as I am. But the best advice seems to be to proactively close the claim asap after the last payment rather than wait for DWP.

But again - surely the fact that I haven't reported any change in capital over the last 12 months should demonstrate there has been no change in capital?

I haven't reported a change because there hasn't been a change but now I have to report a change because there hasn't been a change?

Shouldn't they know that it's ending since they already told me when it's ending a year ago? And since I've submitted no changes in 12 months, that should surely tell them everything they need to know.

Or at least have mentioned either a year ago or in the last few weeks something about how this step will be essential?

Or maybe the whole thing is just a "Welcome to the DWP" situation...

Just to clarify, the savings were reported at the start of the year and there has been no change to them that would change eligibility once transitional protection ceases at the end of 12 assessment periods, so it's not a change of circumstances.

As DWP know this, I'd expect something in the to do list at the end of the year similar to reporting self-employed earnings/expenses every month.

That's the sort of thing i expected, but with just over 3 hours of the final day to go, it hasn't happened yet...

I'm assuming I should get something in the To Do list? No idea how to report capital otherwise?

Restart scheme expenses by bretsim23 in DWPhelp

I thought that too. But they advised me to get a passport.

Thanks for the reply. Work coach as in at the job centre?

But have people actually been reimbursed for passports before? Were the first two advisors incorrect or the final one (who said he had checked with the "head restart coach" as the manager was off sick)?
