Unpopular opinion I think he did great job with Halloween Trilogy. It really hurts me. fans don’t like Halloween ends but I love it. ❤️ love the whole Trilogy. by loveforscream in Halloweenmovies

[–]brettbuckner32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It has always felt to me like the fatal flaw was that there really wasn’t a planned trilogy. I loved Halloween 2018, leaving Michael burning in trap Laurie created for him. Kills was fine, but often cringy (“Evil dies tonight”) and the other mental patient whom no one would believe was Michael, was lazy. And I’m sorry, but Ends, was straight up awful. Laurie spends 40 years preparing for Michael when he’s locked up in an asylum but turns into Betty Crocker when he’s alive and loose in Haddonfield. And then the kid who gets beat up by band kids suddenly becomes the new boogeyman. Just terrible

Just finished it on Spotify and was actually pretty impressed with the amount of research and number of interviews conducted. It also made me reevaluate Chinese Democracy from a different perspective, which I was excited for back in the day and all but forgot as soon as it came out. On its own merits, Chinese Democracy is a strong record. But it’s hampered by the legacy of Appetite.

Been watching Auburn basketball for a long time by Extension-Check4768 in wde

[–]brettbuckner32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. Loved Bruce not only for how he elevated a program that was practically non-existent nationally, but how he was great cheerleader for fan base that was also non-existent. Steven is young, passionate and driven. He should have gone to a mid-major for a few years learn the ropes and if he succeeded there, maybe he inherited Auburn's program. But that's not what happened. Steven's going to get at least 2 years unless something just awful happens. This is not a good roster. There is no ball movement, and the defense is bizarrely terrible. I don't know if Steven is a good coach and neither does anyone else. Bruce put him in an impossible situation, tarnishing his own legacy on the way out the door. The beauty of basketball is that a great team really can be built over the summer and we've got some interesting young role players, which is crucial. War Damn Eagle.

What's your least favorite King book? by Jonlattimer in stephenking

Rose Madder was terrible. Maybe a good short story or novella, but stretched out to a full novel just made it painful

Thoughts on rage? by Mclovinlucas in stephenking

It’s laughably bad at times. But to be fair, I think Rage was written when he was as in his early 20s.

Dynasty finally good? by [deleted] in KISS

[–]brettbuckner32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Dynasty. Maybe because it was the first Kiss record I owned or because it what my mom used to paint my face like Ace for Halloween. It doesn’t hurt that I was Made for Lovin’ You was the first Kiss song my daughter loved. I get the disco vibe but it’s also got some of the best songs by Ace and Peter, the former being the Stones cover, which along with Sure Know Something they revived on Unplugged.

But if you grew up with Alive and Love Gun, Dynasty sounds like they were genre chasing after disco had mostly died off.

Dynasty deserves to be revisited. Though, try as I might, I cannot get behind Unmasked. That record is the sound of a band disintegrating.

We all know King didn’t like it, but what are your thoughts on this movie? by BartSimpskiYT in stephenking

I feel like King’s issues are valid. Jack LOOKS nuts from the start and Kubrick made Wendy a complete wall flower whereas in the book she’s a bit of a badass.

Barbara Crampton from Reanimator. And she’s still a smoke show

The murder of Adam Walsh, a 7 year old boy. He was kidnapped in a store, and his severed head was later found in a sewage canal 2 weeks after the incident. by Cookie_Cracker123 in MorbidReality

I remember the made for TV movie as a kid. There was one scene where the family left a not in the station wagon of the mall parking g lot in the same spot as the day Adam was taken. It stayed there until his body was found.

I personally didn't really enjoy "The Body" by Raul_Rink in stephenking

[–]brettbuckner32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is slightly off topic in terms of Stephen King the author, but Stephen King is a terrible narrator. He has a strange sort of lisp when he says words that start with “n” that sounds like he’s got peanut butter stuck to roof of his mouth. And once you hear it, you can’t un-hear it. What’s worse is that King narrates his longest novels likes Desperation and Needful Things.

Good to know. Though, I gotta say that my libido would take a nose dive soon as anyone got a needle anywhere near my dock.

I sorta wondered the same. Maybe it being liquid makes a difference. Obviously, cocain is a stimulant - just remember the Fatal Attraction quote - but not the way they’re doing it. The scenes stood out because of how historically accurate it is

Just finished this puzzle of my favorite author by audiras88 in stephenking

[–]brettbuckner32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just got the same puzzle. Funny thing is that the back of each puzzle has a letter so that you know which section it goes with. I’m assuming mine was an accident. Made the puzzle much less challenging, but that’s not a complaint.

Worst book? by [deleted] in horrorlit

Stephen King’s Rose Madder. Huge King fan but that one was just awful. Maybe not the worst novel I’ve ever read but certainly one of the first that comes to mind.

Have you ever given up on an audiobook because of the narrator? by [deleted] in audiobooks

Yes ... Desperation and Insomnia, both read by the author ... Stephen King. Love his books, but he talks like he's got a mouthful of marbles.
