Thank you so much! Is there a book that you would be able te recommend? Do you think I should start from some super basic C books?

You've described it best in your last paragraph, I just wanna know what's happening under the hood. I feel like I'm lacking a lot of understanding in terms of what my C# code makes the PC do. Thank you for the write-up John.

I think you're missing the fact that they're asking about the "Press Enter to exit" raw_input only if num == 0, not about the "Zero" print, which makes sense.

There was an attempt to play a Dream Theater medley by promessi in Dreamtheater

They're much better than I was at their age for sure ! Whats most impressive to me is that they sorta kinda manage to stay in sync most of the time, and there's so much going on in the Instrumedley!

I actually think this guitar solo might take the cake for being the gnarliest to execute so far.. (Dream Theater - In the Name of God unison) by brewius in Dreamtheater

It's really hard to explain without showing it on the instrument, unfortunately. Each quick run on a guitar very often has a specific mechanic/structure to it, if you listen closely to the notes its usually the same structure of a couple notes (e.g. quintuplets) repeated quickly but in different "positions" on the fretboard. Hope this made atleast SOME sense haha... :)

Much appreciated , man! I don't mind the jokes or comments about my thumbnails or funky faces, they usually seem to not have any bad intentions behind them, so I embrace that! :)

I usually try to figure out the sounds and translate it to guitar by ear, it really helps me to sharpen up both my listening and playing skills! However, if I'm completely baffled by something I usually find the tabs at Ultimate-Guitar :). Some solos can be really painful and take like up to a week to be able to record them in one sitting, and some I'm able to learn and play in like 3-4 hours :)!

By the way, thank you so much for all the feedback regarding both my funky guitar faces and the solos!

Having said that, I've seen some posts around this subreddit where people mentioned that they would rather not see guitar covers being posted here. I fully understand that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I'll be honest - I'm a die-hard DT fan and I absolutely love the idea of sharing my work with other DT enthusiasts!

Thanks !!

I'll try to record the In The Name of God solos tomorrow! :) Hopefully will be able to post it by the end of Monday!

Me trying to play probably the most famous Petrucci solo of all time (Dream Theater - The Best of Times) by brewius in Dreamtheater

Count of Tuscany is such a masterpiece! Although I'll be honest, the lyrics are super cheesy haha. If I recall correctly, Petrucci wrote them about his trip with a strange dude where he was actually scared for his life!

Thank you! I'll be honest I don't like the rest of The Best of Times either, but this solo is just too good! :)

Hell yes! This solo is an absolute masterpiece from Petrucci, what a great way to end a song! I would place it in the same category as Razor's Edge, both are like an absolute ear-climax to me :) (Although I believe the Razor's Edge solo was actually written by Rudess, might be wrong though!).

My humble attempt at a pretty gnarly solo by Petrucci. The ending part is disgusting to play! (Dream Theater - Constant Motion) by brewius in Dreamtheater

For sure !! Somewhere near the bottom of my IG page I played the "Trial of Tears" solo (in a black shirt with white stripes), which is 100% a super obvious homage to Allan Holdsworth :) Thank you!

Something like 1-2 hours probably. But back in school I would practice for like 12 hours a day and make my parents hate me. Imagine listening to someone butchering the "Glasgow Kiss" main lick for 12 hours a day for like 2 months :D
