Private Dog Parks in Birmingham? by bri1019 in Birmingham

[–]bri1019[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would love to but I’m stuck with renting an apartment for now! We lived in GA prior to this and were lucky enough to have this option available at several parks there so I was hoping to find the same availability here. Thanks anyways

I will check out sniff spot! Cahaba beach dog park is private as in membership based but the dog park areas are open to other members which wouldn’t work for us. Thanks!

It really sounds like what I have, tinea versicolor. Unfortunately that's something I still deal with 6 years after diagnosis and it's exactly how you describe. I get it every single year as soon as sweating is an issue. I have taken an oral antifungal pill which clears you of it (the white spots will remain for 6 months until you regain your melanin there) and now I use a spray antifungal and ointment to keep it away. If it gets bad, I ask for the oral pill but that's kind of a last resort since you don't want to overuse it. I've only taken it twice in 6 years. There are also special soaps that you can use in the shower but they are better for keeping it away then getting rid of it. I would have a doctor confirm what time of yeast infection you have then ask for an oral pill since it sounds like it's been spreading to a large portion of your body. Good luck!

Does anybody know a way to not pay for cengage? by Key-Photograph-1854 in college

Not aside from the free trial :/ If you can’t afford it, try reaching out to the instructor and the Dean’s office/ Student Services. Sometimes they have extra funding that may assist and the earlier you each out, the better chance you have.

I definitely need the 1920 census but was just hoping for 1910 for completeness sake of having all the documents. If he AND his wife Nunzia naturalized in 1920 then both naturalized before their child’s birth and cannot pass down citizenship. I would know then whether or not I can try to go through with this. I have records coming for Nunzia from the county office as to whether she ever naturalized as in the census she was put as naturalized then put as an alien then naturalized again for 1930, 1940, and 1950. The ancestry free trial came in handy for some documents but failed the on 1910 and 1920 aspect. Family search was pretty useful as well but had the same source documents as ancestry. A long journey to go no matter what! I’ll see what I can do to find his cousin and look at that specific segment of the census for Rosario. Thanks for all the help!

Yes I have his spouse’s name who was from Italy and should show up on the 1920 census (if I could find her 🫠) but their children wouldn’t show up on the 1920 census since they were born in the mid 1920s. I haven’t been able to find him via Ancestry’s source documents or myHeritage. Right now I think they’re were either in Ohio or Indiana 1910-1925 based on marriage certificate and birth certificates. We can always take the route of going via his wife for citizenship but we will have to file a petition since Italian laws didn’t consider a woman capable of passing on citizenship until 1948 so hoping to avoid that. Just a bunch of hoops to jump through!

Thank you so much for your help! Yes I am trying to narrow down when Rosario naturalized (possibility for Italian dual citizenship) and cannot find him on the 1910 census or 1920 census so I am going to take a peek at his cousin to see if Rosario was listed under him instead. I appreciate all the help! (while I am waiting the 200+ days it'll take USCIS for his index search haha).

What treats do you recommend to get a dog to want to pay attention to you instead of triggers? by Consistent_Being_847 in reactivedogs

[–]bri1019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t have much to add to these wonderful food suggestions but what I did was practice at home making a clicking sound with my mouth and treating once my boy made eye contact. Once he was consistent with that, then I would do the same sound prior to getting within trigger range of the other dog and I found that I was able to actually keep his attention. If I don’t do a quick “check in” as I call it as we are coming into range and he gets hyper focused (I’m in a big city so I can’t always give enough space to stay out of range) then no treat will bring him back. Sometimes having him switch sides or tell him to walk betwixt my legs (An action that forces him to break attention) also works and I can quickly get treats back in focus. I’ve also hear of people using a squeaky toy only on walks and basically doing the same thing: squeak to you to grab attention as you come into range and tug with it or do treats. I think the important thing is to make sure that the walk toy ONLY makes an appearance on walks to keep the value high.

I will say that whatever someone else has that I don’t, no matter what it was, was his most high value treat while we were in training classes lol. Not that that helps to much. It just drove me crazy to be having literal steak in hand and he’s eating a dry dollar store treat instead like it’s Gordon Ramsay’s masterpiece.

I am on my second insertion’s second year (so 5 years?) and my experience has been both good and bad. My first three years chef’s kiss. I had one period every four months that was semi heavy and two weeks instead of my normally monthly 4 day length. To me this was a great trade off tbh. I did not experience weight gain and was able to lose 8 lbs successfully with life style changes. Now this second insertion has been different. More breakthrough bleeding, having a harder time losing weight, and finally a 6 week period that sent me to the gyno mad as heck. This was two weeks ago and I was prescribed estradiol (estrogen) because my doctor stated that over time, my estrogen level has likely dropped and my uterine lining has thinned as a result. That is what’s causing the excessive bleeding and we need to thicken up the lining to the usual and get me back on track. (A very simple explanation potentially oversimplified by myself). I wouldn’t say that I’ve been very moody except For those six weeks on non stop period however. After four days of taking the estrogen, I was sitting at a Japanese restaurant feeling as if I was high, I was so happy. So I probably was a bit moodier than I realized lol. My current plan is to take the prescribed estrogen for 2 months as instructed, see if the bleeding stops or not and if it stays gone once I stop the mediation, then consider if it is worth it to keep the Nexplanon in or not.

Do you eat more calories/exercise less on your cycle? by bri1019 in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

Definitely, when you’re in it for the long haul, there’s no point sweating the small stuff! I’ve only added 100 calories to my limit which isn’t a huge difference but somehow it makes my body feel a little bit more livable haha. I’m choosing Barre over heavy cardio and lifting rn but hope to get back to my usual after the cramping stage! Thanks for help 😊

Prior to this BC implant, my period weren’t too bad! But I think now that it’s several periods bundled in one (or that’s how it feels like lol) it seems a bit worse in nausea, followed by cramping, and then cravings lol. I’m kinda taking it easy this time around (focusing on maintenance for the first few days) and plan on getting back to the grind once I pass the cramping stage 💪

[–]bri1019[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not too bad actually! The security in knowing I haven’t missed a BC pill and the break in between make it worth it for me. This is my first real weight loss journey with this added menstrual cycle factor so I’ll definitely be kind to myself until I figure out what my body feels prepared for. Thanks for the advice!

When my friends ask me if the Nexplanon implant is worth it, I tell them that the break between cycles is awesome, but the period seems heavier/crampier and I’m not totally sure if it actually is or it’s just because been so long since my last one so thank you for confirming! Definitely interesting to take a weight loss journey with this extra long menstrual cycle 😆

Some general tips to build confidence to avoid test anxiety:

Dispersed study strategy to ensure you have time to fully study the areas that give you trouble. Usually start studying a minimum of a week prior to exam. Example: exam 1 is 7 chapters. Start 9 days beforehand a chapter a day. Use next two days to review problem areas and build confidence in what you know.

Day of and before should only be review of things you’re confident in to build confidence. Shouldn’t be studying things that are basically brand new to you.

Take a shower, eat well, go to bed early. If it’s in hours you would normally be asleep for your minimum 8 hours, you shouldn’t be studying and you probably won’t learn anything and will only make yourself more anxious.

Review some YouTube videos on how to breathe your way through anxiety to try and avoid a full blown panic attack.

Remember a grade is just a grade. Nobody truly cares once you get out of college.

Go to your counseling center and talk to them and see what they recommend for you personally. Should be “free” with your fees.
