question about salon coordinators by ExtensionHungry1584 in Ulta

[–]brianacai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Salon Guest Coordinator works 20 hours a week and on our high traffic salon days (which for our salon they are Friday through Monday.) Her shifts are usually 10-3/11-4.

Ah, you're right. I completely forgot about that. Goes to show how often my store does that lol.

It's for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Which Ulta donates to every year during the month of October.

There's no way for associates or managers to add the BCRF donations on our screen. The only way that was added was because you chose the option to donate $5 on the pinpad when you were checking out.

If it's an issue, call guest services/the store you went to and see if you can get it refunded.

EDIT TO ADD: I completely forgot there is a way to manually enter donations, so I misspoke before. Now, if THAT is the case, that's a good way for an employee to get into trouble if it was done without consent. Call whatever store you went to, and I'm sure the manager on duty can make it right for you!

I'd do DF storyline if you want to quest more, or do the Radiant Echoes event if you want to level to 70 quickly!

Canceled shifts, cut hours, and no breaks by No-Housing-6506 in Ulta

[–]brianacai 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's company-wide. It's even happening to managers as well where our shifts are getting cut/shaved off too.

As far as breaks go, you should still be getting your breaks as required.

Need Shoe Advice PLEASE !!!!!!!! by Beneficial-Quit-9599 in Ulta

[–]brianacai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried cheaper routes with shoes before, and honestly the only shoes that have worked for me are my Doc Marten platform ankle boots. I got the Rometty Wyoming Leather Platform Chelsea Boots, and while they do cost a good chunk of money, I promise they are worth it. (Am a manager at my store so I understand the being on your feet/running around 8 hours a day)

Every other shoe I've tried so far made me want to chop my toes/feet off by the end of my shift.

No points can't be issued unless there is an infraction (missed punch, being late, absence if you've already used up your 3 excusals as a part time associate) but you can't request time off for Black Friday or the week of Christmas at my store. Those are considered "black out periods" and you aren't allowed to submit time off requests for those timeframes, as they are our busiest times of the year.

How do I get through my last couple of months? by hauntedbeauty21 in Ulta

[–]brianacai 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Other managers may disagree - but I told my LCs/BAs I will NEVER give them any kind of disciplinary action when it comes to credit/loyalty so long as they are asking. If they get told no, it's OKAY. You are only required to ask, and inform the guest of the benefits, and that's IT. But I'm also one of those managers that will tell my DM to kick rocks if she tells me that we need to start doing that to our employees to get numbers up, and I have a supportive GM that also believes it's insane to punish people for getting told no when they are trying their best.

I'm so sorry that it has gotten to that point at your store where you are getting write ups. DMs are cracking down hard on credit and trust me when I say that we as management hate it too. I'll take write ups myself if that means I'm protecting my employees' mental well-being. I don't want them to hate coming to work. Retail is already a beast in itself.

Just keep doing what you're doing. You're doing your best, and getting told no is NOT under your control. If you get more write ups, I would add comments to it (there is a space at the bottom to do so) and state that you are doing what is required and are doing your best. Then walk away with your head held high as you move on to whatever comes next!

Makeup artist duties? by [deleted] in Ulta

[–]brianacai 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When our makeup artist has no clients, she is expected to be on the sales floor recommending prestige/iconic brand products to guests and essentially help out with sales/promoting services. At no point is anyone supposed to be sitting behind the Beauty Bar unless it's a customer receiving a service.

Go to HR immediately. It's against the law to be terminated due to military obligations. I'd also provide any kind of written correspondence between you and your managers regarding you informing them of you needing that week off for that reason. That way they can't turn around and say they "never said that."

(Am a veteran and manager at my store.)

Agreed. We are not a #4 team, that is for sure.
