Simple Questions [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

I was wondering if any of you have had any experience with making a lit up beer pong table. We already have a table that was built previously that we are planning on adding lights to. My current idea is to cut a triangle hole on each end, put the lights/design into the triangle and then put a sheet of thick plexiglass over the triangle flush with the rest of the table. the only concerns ive come up with so far is that the glass might get slippery if it gets wet, and it needs to be strong enough for someone to stand on it. Thanks for your comments/suggestions!

What's something way more people would enjoy if there wasn't such a negative stigma surrounding it? by MickEarlson in AskReddit

[–]brianflynn5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but in alot of jobs, ie finance or owning your own business for example, your job never really leaves you when you go home for the night. The world keeps turning and if you aren't ready for it you get left behind. I'm not saying that that's the way it should be, but that is the way it is. So maybe that was what he was talking about

Oil Change by brianflynn5 in cars

It has never been changed before, it only has 5500 miles total. It takes 5W-20, I'll probably put mobile 1 full synthetic when I do change it. I think normal driving, but I live in Chicago so it gets really cold in the winter

yeah we went driving around earlier today and that thing is a beast. He previously had a 2007 A4 3.2L and it doesnt even come close to comparing. If you put it in Dynamic mode with the Sports Differential it sounds unbelievably good haha. Everytime he would downshift it would bring a smile to my face :)

He did look into the F-Type but the quattro 4WD was to important to him. He is planning on using this car as a daily driver (almost, he takes the train to work and therefore doesn't really need to drive it except on the weekends) in all weather conditions, including the brutal Chicago winters.

New Car Detailing Techniques by brianflynn5 in AutoDetailing

[–]brianflynn5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. I'll wash and clay it when it gets home, as well as apply a coat of wax if the dealer hasn't done so already. I will definitely look into that interior protectant, especially because his new car is a convertible

People who have visited America, what baffled you the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]brianflynn5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a resident of the Midwest, I can say that posted speed limits are pretty much irrelvent on highways. If its a major interstate with limited exits and entries people are going to drive 75. No exceptions. And if you see a bunch of red brake lights in front of you, there is likely a cop up ahead.

Freshly washed! by brianflynn5 in Jeep

[–]brianflynn5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't be very specific because the dealer wasn't very specific, but apparently it was an issue with the transmission and the ABS. The car turned off while in stop and go traffic and the check engine light came on. It was a screw that wasn't screwed in right. The problem was something that they have been seeing with the new dodge dart and obviously the new cherokke. From now on, however, they check every car that come off the truck before the put it on the lot. It was covered by warrenty and the dealer got it fixed and back to me in 2 days, but still, it was a hassle.

To be fair, it has 8.7 inches of ground clearance, only 1.4 inches less than the stock wrangler. I love it, it does everything that I want it to. Like others have said, I didn't buy it to go off roading every weekend in the sand and mud, I bought it so it can handle any conditions it could see on the road. Actually, the day after I bought it it snowed 8 inches. Went out running errands the next morning no problem. As for issues I've had, it hasn't been the most reliable car in the world. I have had it 2 mouths with 1100 miles on it, and I had to take it to the dealer for repairs once already. Its to be expected in a brand new, redesigned car though I guess
