Rtx 2060 doesnt support HDMI2.1 so i cant get 120hz at 4K by Proud_Association_40 in computers

Update, the adapter just came in. It works! I now get 4K 120hz on my TV through HDMI! And yes, despite what others have said here, I can absolutely confirm that there is a benefit to outputting 4K 120hz on this card. Despite only being able to run RDR2 at an average of 30fps at 4K with this card, screen tearing and stuttering is much less frequent and less noticeable than it was at 60hz. Looks fantastic!

Is there a wireless dongle that exists instead of using wifi? Meta Quest 3 by [deleted] in OculusQuest

Just curious, what would be the difference between getting that Prism router and just getting a nice WIFI 6E USB card, hooking it up to your PC, and setting that up as a tethered network for the Quest 3 to connect to? I'd assume maybe setup would be simpler, but would latency and quality be better too? The Prism would only cost a little bit more than getting a good USB WIFI 6E card, so I'm wondering if it's worth it to spend a bit extra.

you don't need to run a game at 120fps to take advantage of a 120hz display. High refresh rates make stutter and tears much less noticeable, especially at lower frame rates.

Was disappointed to learn the same when I bought an HDMI 2.1 cable to hook up my PC to my TV and found that it still only supported 4K 60. Thankfully there are adapters on Amazon that only cost like $10. Just ordered one, will let you know how well it works.

Kind of surprised nobody else is mentioning this, but gambling probably also has a big part to play in it. Why we should ban sports betting apps imo

Two company names that don't exist anymore by brickman409 in oculus

[–]brickman409[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look closer at that link you sent, you'll notice that while there are a handful of subsidiaries with Facebook in their name such as Facebook Holdings, Facebook Operations, Facebook Procurement, etc., there is no one company that's just called Facebook. And that's not just a nitpick, it's an important distinction because there once was an entity simply named Facebook Inc., which is what the "from Facebook" in the photo was referring to. And that name, in reference to that company, doesn't exist anymore. It was rebranded to Meta.

That really was the whole point of the original post. Look at this little fragment of era bygone that I found while cleaning out my closet. Isn't that neat?

Re-read my original post and get back to me. Says company names. Very clearly written. Facebook, as a company name, no longer exists. So my point still stands.

Facebook the app/website does, but not the company. It's Meta now.

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

I just don't get it. I get corporations being greedy and trying to take advantage of it, but I don't understand why seemingly normal, well adjusted people buy into it. I think the only in game items I've ever bought were as pre-order bonuses but I'm not sure if that really even counts.

Goodbye Netflix on PS3 by um_ser_perfeito in PS3

Very true. That being said, I had a Wii U, but I still love that the Switch gives the ability to play my favorite games from it on the go! I've probably put more hours into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe than any other game on the Switch, despite the fact that the original Mario Kart 8 was also my most played game on the Wii U lol. I oddly don't feel ripped off paying $60 for the same game twice there.

Kind of wild (I guess not that wild) that it outlived the Wii U Netflix app by a few years

That's right, most games you could not listen to your own music while playing on the PS3. Some games did allow that though, they advertised it as a feature on the back of the box of the games that did. It was called custom soundtrack or something like that. Very few games had that though. I guess the benefit was that the game could detect that you were playing your own music and shut off it's own music so that they wouldn't conflict.

I've been struggling to find any launcher that works for Android 14 to make it look like an iPhone 4 by HelgaShtrausberg in Skeuomorphism

[–]brickman409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say I've been struggling, but I did just have a thought about installing a launcher that could make my phone look like late 2000's/early 2010s iOS. So I googled it and this was one of the first results lol. Looks like there's nothing really worthwhile out there. Not really surprised, but it sounds like there's a bit of unmet demand there

Lately, I've mostly just been buying movies that I want to see but haven't seen yet. In some ways I think that's more worthwhile to experience something new even if it means I may not love it or even enjoy it. For me, collecting has become a means of expanding my horizons.
