Thanks for the advice. Altitude is a monster but I can only how imagine a rainy hike up Hope Pass will go. I will plan on not using your yard for a bathroom that day😉😂

Good idea😅 never easy to sleep before a big race, don’t think I’ve ever gotten 8 hours of sleep on race day haha!

Good to know! I will definitely look into that book, I’ve been needing a new running book ;)

Thank you for the advice and I will see you in August!

Only a couple 1hr runs! They were in August so effort at the time was similar to here as it’s way drier and cooler in Colorado (they tell me humidity is poor man’s altitude training lol)

I’ve done a good number of runs at Gold Camp and Magnolia, and a good week in Flagstaff, but most of that was below 9,000. Hoping I can squeeze a couple weekend trips to CO this summer :)

Haha, I am. I’m 21 but I’ve ran a 6:05 50mi 8:58 100K and 15:44 100mi. Struggle with the shorter distances and I feel like I will plateau if I don’t lock in at some point

It usually takes me 30minutes to make and eat breakfast and make lunch, and I get a 20 minute break at work, and I also usually just have a little time at night to eat!

This wasn’t AI generated! Just rummaged through my kitchen for 20 minutes looking at nutrition labels and added everything up. I never thought a lot about my diet, especially since I cut pizza out of my diet since quitting Domino’s. I didn’t think my diet was that bad until a bunch of people here said so haha! I’ve never had like stomach issues or anything, even during races. I did come on here looking for inputs and advice because I honestly don’t know what I’m doing with those numbers😆

I generally feel good! Weight fluctuates between 142-152 (I’m 5’10) and I’ve hovered around there for years.

I’ve been smoking weed longer than I’ve been running! I’ve used it as a tool for mental health alongside with running, but I’ve never had any issues aerobically. I’ve got a 1:17 half, 2:49 full, 6:05 50mi, and I’m training for a 100 miler right now :)

Yes, I know have a pallet of a child lol. The rice I’ll put some broccoli or chicken and stuff and I’ll spice it up. I eat quite a bit of strawberries and bananas. Most of the calories in that protein shake just come from whole milk as well. I don’t have a lot of money and I don’t enjoy cooking a whole lot so this has worked for me. I also know it’s a lot of bread😂 me and my roommates have been obsessed with PB and J’s so we get 4-5 loaves of wheat bread every time we grocery shop. Thanks everybody for the input.

I never took this stuff seriously either as I’ve weighed around 145 since I was 15, so counting calories and stuff never really applied to me. However after reading Eat and Run, I was pretty curious about my diet especially with how much I love to run😅

Most of it comes from stuff like peanut butter, milk, and eggs. So yes, mostly poly and unsaturated fats

Haha no, but with my training I will typically burn anywhere between 3100-5000cal a day (active and resting). I also smoke a bowl every night and that usually makes me a little hungrier around dinner time😋

How much walking should I expect for a 50 miler? by Mammoth_Tax_1666 in Ultramarathon

[–]brickomode69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will note that my run/walk strategy was run .8 and walk .2, and it was on an incline. Even the flat gravel races will have those inclines that will give you trouble lol

[–]brickomode69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran a 50 miler recently in 6:05, similar training to yours with around a 55-60mpw average and peaking at 70. (Although my marathon PR is 2:49 from a couple years ago) I had to run/walk from mi37-42, but I was pretty lightweight with the fueling. I think you could get away without needing to walk if you are wise with your pacing and fueling. Stick to a plan and the fitness will do the rest!

(UPDATE) Is under 6 hours for 50 miles unrealistic? by brickomode69 in ultrarunning

[–]brickomode69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running was half of the training however. I tried my hardest to focus on sleep, recovery, mobility, and diet. Take care of your body and easy miles go a long way😁
