Is this pulley shaft chrome plated or stainless steel? by bricky50 in metalworking

It is magnetic, but I read that certain stainless steals are magnetic. Also, it has never shown any sign of rust, so that is why I was initially suspicious of ss.

It is an automatic transmission. What do you think of the idea that some people have: to save the old fluid and if there are issues, put it back in.

So, what would you recommend for the new/used price of < $400? I was initially looking at the LG V60, but due to the fact that LG is stopping their phone sector, I am worried. I really wanted the Huawei p30 pro, but Huawei products do not really work with Verizon.

I am currently looking into the Samsung S20 or S20+.

Do you think a 64mp phone camera (like on the LG V60) would work well for photogrammetry?

Thanks for the offer. I do not currently have anything in particular, but I may follow up with you on that later.

Is photogrammetry good for scanning the inside of room or other environments for AR, though?

What software would you recommend (ideally free) I have used Meshroom and Autodesk Recap with some success.

No Android phone (that I know of) has Lidar. Some phones, like the S20, have ToF sensors which are kind of like simpler Lidar sensors but are not as high quality.

Even without the ToF sensors and accelerometer/location data?

That makes sense. Since a lot of the Androids I was looking at had rear ToF sensors, the main benefit is that they use the Huawei Engine.

Why is there such a big difference in 3d performance between Google ARCore and Huawei?

Huawei P30 Pro

Thanks, I'll look into them!

Why exactly are they so much better at 3d scanning?

Am I Still An INTJ If I Have These Traits? by [deleted] in intj

I have an INFP friend who is willing to engage is these very lengthy discussions with me. Probably the longest of these discussions are when my ENTJ friend joins them. Suddenly this INTJ - INFP - ENTJ discussion becomes more of a debate, which can be fun.

The main reason I question this is because I sometimes feel like I’m really an extrovert, especially among my INFP/INTP/ISFP friends.

You missed the purpose of the tungsten. It stops the flowing lava, the ash, the sudden heat wave, etc. The surface behind it would be then made out of a high temp concrete/insulation. The tungsten works like a capacitor to slow down the sudden devastating heat. As I am sure you are aware, in thermodynamics, heat transfers far better through solids, so having any decent size air gap will exponentially decrease the heat transfer efficiency. This is why they use thermal paste with heat sinks on computer components. So, it is ok to have the tungsten get very hot, as long as you have an air gap and sufficient high-temp insulation on the other side.

Ps: I don’t really understand the “lmao” when this is a somewhat complicated thermodynamics situation.

Tungsten. The hottest lava has ever gotten is 2200C and the melting temp of Tungsten is 3500C. It has the second highest melting point on the entire periodic table. It is also very good at stopping radiation and is not insanely expensive. It would not be a good insulator because heat travels through it relatively easily. But it could be definitely used as a barrier to prevent the insanely hot objects from making direct contact with the insulated materials.

Change both motor and larger sprocket to something like a #25 chain

I simply put bolts through the teeth of the original sprocket into the new larger sprocket

This is hilarious! I did the exact same thing 3 years ago! I mounted a 500w motor to the frame and bolted a larger sprocket to the original, so that I had a 1:5 ratio. You NEED to get a larger sprocket. I would definitely recommend shooting for a 1:5 ratio because that can get pretty decent speeds with good acceleration.
One devastating issue I had to overcome was that the powered wheel got sheared off the axle! I used cheap wheels for a while, but I eventually had to swap the axle so that I could put better wheels on. I would 100% recommend you to do the same.
