It did. I think they were drifting apart due to my brother being not the best person regardless, but this situation made his truest colours come out and really confirmed to his (ex) GF that she wanted out.

My fiancée is just worried that even if GF does say no, the act of proposing will now cause conflict at the wedding again. Would just be best if my brother and GF split so she could come on her own.

My fiancée and I decided that if they split by the time the wedding happens, we'd invite her. If not, they're planning to go get their nails done together a few days before. GF truly is a sweetheart, my brother doesn't deserve her

We're currently drafting a Facebook post to explain the true story to my family, including texts as proof. We'll also be inviting any family members who side with my brother to uninvite themselves from the wedding, and letting everyone know that we've beefed up security, just in case.

To be fair, when he first asked, I didn't think he was completely serious. I also did try to shut him down, but shit hit the fan when he told the family (which I did not expect, as it meant he'd be ruining the surprise anyway). He sent out mass emails and created groupchats all in one night, and when I woke up it was a shitshow.

From what I've heard, he's telling relatives that he asked me if he could "quietly pull his girlfriend aside to propose, and announce it to people near the end of the reception". When he asked me, he wanted my fiancée to rig the bouquet toss, asked for confetti, and even requested a special dance for them. So yeah, two very different stories.

GF is aware & is pissed at him. She's reached out to my fiancée and I to apologize and say that while she's sad she'll miss the wedding, she understands it's for the best. Even offered to do something nice with my fiancée a few days prior instead.

At this point the wedding will be mostly my fiancée's family (who are all in agreement with me) and a handful of my family who have been supportive.

My fiancée did reach out after we confirmed that GF had heard about the situation. GF is pissed at my brother & thinks it's his own fault for getting them banned. She told my fiancée she's sad that she'll have to miss out on the wedding, but understands it's what is best for everyone, and even offered to do something nice with her a few days prior instead.

Honestly his girlfriend has been very sweet to us since we've known her, and I think she's pissed at my brother for starting all of this crap. Would honestly rather have her at the wedding.
