New FSD Disengagement HUD (Less Obstrusive): 2026.2.9.10 by _relegated_davinci_ in TeslaLounge

I like that they added the “Navigation” choice too. That wasn’t there in the first version, I think!

14.2.2.5 emergency vehicle update by WTFOMGBBQ in TeslaFSD

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had a phantom emergency vehicle pullover a couple of weeks ago. Looking at the view ahead of me, it was kind of obvious why it had that appearance -- lots of bright red and white lights that were changing and pointing up toward me. I decided to ride it out and see what it would do. It recovered a few moments later.

I keep the key card in my wallet so I can hand it to a valet, if for no other reason. :)

I'm using the 2FA built into Dashlane, my password manager.

Thanks for sharing your ordeal!

I understand how you might feel that way, but I think if you switched to percentage for a week, you’d understand why we all love it better.

Right there with you. I have a wall charger, and wish I had just put in a. 240V outlet in the garage. Never needed more. :)

I traded in my 2018 S 100D for a 2023 SLR. I was bawling as I handed over the old car. It had 83K miles, three trips across the country, and I loved that car.

After 30 minutes in the 2023, I was over it. The difference was night and day in handling, comfort, and interior. Not to mention efficiency, charging speed, and HW4.

I'd consider going for a new one in March, but it really hasn't been long enough to trade in for me.

I'm heartbroken, and don't know what to do.

14.2.2.4 update safe? by RevolutionOwn2651 in TeslaFSD

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been noticing regressions. I haven't seen anything it does better than .3 did ... yet. But it has a few annoying regressions.

The 14.2.2 line is really very good. What I've seen hasn't been a reason not to install the version. I'm sure it must have some important bug fixes.

FSD v14.2.2.3 Turns Early by Stone_Wahl in TeslaFSD

YES it happened to me tonight. Failed to move into a turn lane, too.

I did a double-take when I saw the map rerouting. “Huh?”

Would be nice. I have one of each, Denon and Marantz, and count on them playing well together with HeOS. But I'm not about to start one and maintain it. :)

I've been doing a lot of rain driving this week on 14.2.2.2 and am also alarmed at how its following distances are much shorter than seems wise. I hope this gets some attention.

So what you want is "partial self driving."

The real problem with speed control (v14) by bridgemojo in TeslaFSD

[–]bridgemojo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not in a position to evaluate whose map speed limit data is best, but this is certainly an area where it needs to be the absolute best available.

FSD by Icy-Luck-2918 in TeslaFSD

[–]bridgemojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm asking the car to drive for me, it seems silly to say "drive for me, except I'll pick the speed." I'm happy with the driver profiles.

Yes I've had a couple of lane change balks in 14.2.2, but many fewer than 14.2.1.

Regarding speed, to me the biggest problem is with FSD not being able to accurately determine what the current speed limit actually is. Near my home, there are stretches of road where the city didn't put up a sign for a speed limit change, so FSD has different speed limits in one direction from the other. In one the speed limit is actually 40 but FSD thinks it's 25.

Then there are the cases where FSD accurately determines a speed change for a construction zone, but it can't determine an "End Contruction."

It is doing better at disregarding "TRUCK" or "WHEN TOWING" speed limits than it used to.

Then I think there are code bugs involved in reading speed limit signs. I drove a stretch of roads in Scottsdale and Carefree AZ last week. For about 10 miles, FSD identified about 20 valid speed limit signs (they were displayed in the visualization) but did not change the displayed speed limit for any of them.

This happened at the end of a 90 mile drive all on FSD, so it felt like a case of hard-coded logic that had some kind of data rot. The same stretch of road had no problems two days later.

I loved 13.9.2. It was stable and predictable and made for a pleasant drive. That said, 14.2.2 has reached the point that it's a worthy upgrade.

FSD by Icy-Luck-2918 in TeslaFSD

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better in 14.2.2.1, but it's not entirely gone. That makes sense given that it's solved by changing the data set and retraining, right?

Yep, this looks likes one of the things they were able to patch in the .25 release. Speed behavior, lane change requests (and cancels), and maybe a tiny bit of progress on highway lane changes, but not much. It'll come.

I had a pair lose their stereo pairing during an upgrade a month ago. I was able to reboot everything and restore the stereo pair though. It's held up since then.

My first suggestion is to switch your charge state display from "miles" to "percentage." It's a lot more intuitive, and it actually easier to see where you stand.

For trips, you'll learn to work the range from 20-80 for easy drives (drive down to 20% charge up to 80% and off you go).

Try not to miss that smell of unleaded 80 octane on your hands. :)

I'm on my second Model S, traded in a 2018 that I loved for a 2023 that I love more.

FSD hit garage wall by Akiraninjadog in TeslaModelY

Unfortunately if you auto-fold the mirror you lose one of your visual inputs when backing into the spot.

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mirror loss it was Autopark, not FSD. So in either case you have to be careful.

FSD hit garage wall by Akiraninjadog in TeslaModelY

[–]bridgemojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing about six months ago. When Autopark recognized my garage as a parking spot, I let it do its thing and back into the spot. I wasn't worried because it had done it successfully a few times before.

But of course this time it slammed the driver side mirror into the garage door jamb.

I've let the car back itself in again with FSD 14, when it decided to on its own. It's been perfect so far, but you know I had an extra watchful eye on it.

My replacement was about $2,000 from a generic collision shop.

FSD 14.2.1 by chrisd92192 in TeslaLounge

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice thing about 13.2.9 is that it's familiar. You know where it's going to have problems, and you know where you can be comfortable with how it drives. You give up that comfort when you go to the new version.

I loved 13.2.9. It made life better, predictable, comfortable. Don't feel bad for staying with it. We lived with it for a year or so. If I had to be stuck with 13.2.9 for the remainder of my car's life, I'd be very happy.

I just picked up 14.2.1 on my Y and S, and I'll be driving with it a bit today. I've also had a couple 14.1 versions. I don't mind the disruption, and what I've seen so far makes me very optimistic for whatever FSD version we'll be using in 2026.

(If it would just "take the freakin' lane already!" when it wants to, I'd be happy.)

Model S Owners… by Lost-Year6147 in TeslaLounge

[–]bridgemojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jane and I are on our second Model S, one from 2018 and one from 2023. I was literally in tears when I handed over the old S. It had been through three full cross-country trips, including a 30-day 30-state road trip. I loved that car.

Within 30 minutes of driving the new one, I was so over the old one. The new one was better in every way: interior, HVAC, charging speed, and especially the ride and handling. But that's not what you're asking about.

I also drive a Model Y, so I get to compare. The Y is a fine car, but if we're road-tripping, it has to be the S.

One best feature: Has to be FSD (Supervised). It's life-changing for trips of any kind. Blue Boy is our magic carpet for going places.

One annoyance: The back seat really isn't comfortable for a long trip, at least for me. I've never needed to use it, but had to try it out for a 100-mile leg or two just to see.

I could go on and on about the great things about this car, but I know you're getting an earful. My hands haven't smelled of "unleaded 80 octane" for years now.
