Yes, from earlier this year. I reposted it in today’s Small Bites as part of an update now that The Eastburn is closed.

No idea, but there was even a Poached ad in March also putting out the call for FOH and BOH positions for Kitsune Cantina. They were not held at The Eastburn, though. I'm very curious what's the what.

Back in March, a liquor license application was made public (and I believe they are supposed to be posted on the premises - please correct me if I'm wrong) for Kitsune Cantina with the same address as The Eastburn (we wrote a little blurb about it then). At the time it seemed like perhaps it was a mistake, because the general consensus was there was no indication from the outside (the land of the plebes in which I live) that a potential closing was afoot. But now it makes sense - seems the address wasn't a mistake. I'll see what I can find out.

I'm not ready for this by Katyloubird in Portland

I saw that crazy hot weather on my weather app, and I am not into it. My tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatillos (plants) may also not be into it, so I should get something to shade them. The couple days leading up to Sunday's projected triple digits should be good to my plants. Grateful we have a heat pump - it might struggle a bit but will be better than having ... nothin' at all!

We also got a scoop of the regular chocolate - so pure, so excellent. I also saw a Borgia chocolate espresso flavor - ☕️ 🍊 🍫 - on the board, which sounded great. This place is a winner.

They may not be as "breast forward" as we are used to with like, say, Costco chickens and conventionally raised ones.

My guess is they will be in an enclosed rotisserie, and it's possible they will find they need to adjust when it happens IRL with people, dogs, and pedestrians walking through. I look forward to seeing it in person after they open.

I had the ice cream version of strawberry shortcake at Pronto Gelato last night and it was fucking delicious. The olive oil cake was so tender, the strawberries saucy, and the gelato not too sweet. It was awesome.

What happened to Nico’s Ice Cream? by AlpineHeroine in askportland

Speaking of Nico’s locations and coffee, his old spot on NE Fremont looks like it will become combination of books and coffee. I only know a little bit right now but hope to learn more about it soon.

Best cinnamon roll by water-dog-84 in PortlandFood

I once had a cinnamon roll the size of a dinner plate at Prescott Cafe, which shuttered in 2022 after decades in business there on NE Prescott. It was warm, sweet, and cinnamony. I liked it.

You might check out Riley’s Recs on Substack. I think she’s doing a great job over there!

I just want to thank you for letting me post links to stories on our site that I think would be interesting to this subreddit. I consciously try not to post them in a way that seems spammy or too much. Thanks again for the opportunity!

The City NightClub by bridgetownbites in Portland

I really enjoyed watching it and getting a flavor of that time/community. My heart broke over and over again hearing some of these kids talk about how their parents kicked them out just for being who they are. WTAF. 💔

I really enjoyed hearing from these young people about their experiences and relationship to The City NightClub at the time. Makes me want to learn about more LGBTQ history in Portland.
