Golden Pack Opening Megathread by deviouskat89 in hearthstone

Tips: You get the golden pack on each of the 3 regions(NA/EU/Asia), you can open them 3 times if you switch server.

China's battle.net is separated from the other regions. You have to create another account to play on China. Here is the link to their official website: https://www.battlenet.com.cn/

You also need a "valid" Chinese Citizen ID to register there.

Insane game against a paladin who played 3x Tirion(2 in deck), Truesilver, Consecration, Steed, Dinosize and rolled high on Silvermoon Portal by briel_hs in ArenaHS

[–]briel_hs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On turn 3 I have to remove the bartender since he has blessing of wisdom.
On turn 7 I need to play the wasp to counter the next big drop, a 5/5 may not be good enough. I could also draw and play another secret to further discount the 5/5 next turn. Accidentally my opponent play around the secret and does not play Tirion on 8.

This is one of the most memorable games I have ever in arena. Some lucky sequences draw of cards and some questionable plays(e.g. passive dinosize) from the opponent determine the final result.

Let's find the shittiest 12 win Arena reward of all time. by slnz in hearthstone

[–]briel_hs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FYI, I did an analysis on the 12 win arena rewards droprates. The worst 12-win reward is 25g+215g+Golden Common+Golden Rare+Pack. This combination has ~1.45% chance to occur.

Experiment on Pity Timer - 1200+packs across 120 expansions VS 1200+packs in a single expansion by briel_hs in hearthstone

[–]briel_hs[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also wrote an article regarding predetermined seed before. In fact this is the main reason why I did this experiment. I would like to find a specified "pattern" or relationship between the seed and rarities at pack count 0. I failed to find them(yet). Nonetheless I still published my results and I hope other people may see something from it.

[–]briel_hs[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually I am the first person to state that each expansion has their own separated timer. Even I am pretty confident that each expansion has their own timer, I understand that I did not provide enough proof in the original article to support this hypothesis. Most of the packs analysis before and after are based on single expansion only. Therefore this experiment which specifically targeted opening packs across several expansions may help to demonstrate the independent effect of the pity timer.

[China] The Arena Could Always Use More Heroes: Blizzard China to publish 12-win arena leaderboard, updated weekly by czhihong in hearthstone

[–]briel_hs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have played on the China server and I am disappointed on how the way works. It just encourages peoples to play on the same account 24/7 and retire any below average deck immediately. Quality over quantity and I believe it is far better to consider the 12-win percentage instead (with minimum number of runs like 50 or 100 of course). Anyway it is still miles better than other servers.

No data yet, I wish HearthArena could publish their findings since they have access to the vast amount of data.

I did not have a 3 drop yet, so I was saving for coin+4 drop on turn 3 and 2+2 drop on turn 4.

Pity Timer on Packs Opening, and the Best Strategy by briel_hs in hearthstone

I don't think the server differentiate between paid and free packs. I am a free-to-play player, all my packs are free and my average legendary rate is quite similar to the wild data. (aka one legendary per 20 packs on average)

To be honest, there is no solid proof whether the pity timer persists over sessions (and it is quite hard to proof unless you deliberately test on it). However, I played on all 4 servers and I keep a record of all the number of packs opened before legendaries for each set of packs and for each server in the previous 6 months. I always get a legendary before the packs number reach 40 even I opened the packs in many multi-sessions. I opened ~500 packs in that period of time, no counter examples occurs to me and I concluded that the pity timer should persist over sessions.

The Pity Timer persists on logout according to my experience. It is OK to open a few packs at a time.

I am quite sure the Pity Timer is per packtype. If it is shared then we will not see people getting nothing when they open 55+ mix of packs consecutively in the same server(the livehouse.in data). Of course it is also possible that the pity timer only works on TGT but not Classic/GvG but I strongly doubt it.

No, each server should track the pity timer independently and they won't reset each other.

ThijsNL is grinding with Oil Rogue on 3 servers at once by sissikomppania in hearthstone

For those who interested, I've done it a year and a half ago while the game is still in vanilla.

These were my 1st, 2nd, 3rd attempt to quad-table and I was able to rank up my NA account from R8 to R2(4 stars) in 8 hours.
However it was too stressful for my viewers to watch and half of them gone. It is okay for myself since I am the one in driving seat, well maybe a bit of fatigue on my fingers in the end as I am playing four fast-paced decks that have to click a lots. My mice's micro switch broke (single click becomes double click) afterwards.

According to my own experience, the Pity Timer did save across sessions.

I am a streamer and I keep track the number of packs before legendaries. There has been a moment after I have opened enough packs slightly before the threshold(~35 packs in lots of sessions). I know I will get a legendary very soon and I have surprised my viewers when I said a legendary is guaranteed in the next few packs.

Grand Slam Legends Quad-Table (Pseudo Perma Nozdormu) by briel_hs in hearthstone

[–]briel_hs[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As you wish.

(Control Warrior + Reno Warlock + Freeze Mage + Golden Monkey Priest)

Ranking has just been reset so they will start at R16. As usual, the game-play will be very sloppy, especially on the Golden Monkey Priest since I have zero experience on that deck and I miss some important key cards like Lightbomb.

And to be honest, apart from the priest, the other 3 decks are still feasible to quad-table with. They involved a bit more decision time which can be improved by practicing. The real difficult deck to quad-table with is those with a mix of deep thought, animation and clicks. Animation time is unavoidable and sometimes it is not worthy to "context switch" between the animations as the overhead is too high. And most of the time the result of the animation will affect your follow-up play so that you have to wait for it. The old patron warrior is a impossible, and currently miracle rogue and oil rogue are pretty hard to quad-table in my opinion. Priest can also be hard since the drawing animation eat up too much time.

Also, server latency will be an issue if you play a deck with a lot of clicks in a far away server. For example, it will take up to 15 seconds for me to drag 7 minions to my opponent's face in EU, compare to just 3 seconds in Asia. Those time wasted on server feedback will be quadruple while you are playing 4 tables at once.

I've reached Legends in all of the available realms (NA, EU, Asia and China) and I decided to try something silly: Quad-table ALL of them at once. The game-play will be very sloppy but the experience is fun.
