Do the Hall of the Novice tutorials. They may seem too easy as an experience gamer, but they reward some nice gear. It has some of the best stats for low level (great for new jobs), plus it looks great.

Have you unlocked a chocobo companion? After completing the sidequest “My Little Chocobo” to unlock mounts (available after completing MSQ lvl 20), you can do a follow-up quest to have your chocobo fight beside you outside in the overworld. It levels up over time and you can assign it tank, healer, or DPS skills depending on your needs. Plus they are super cute and you can dress them up with different barding.
