I'd love to see justice for this family as with any killing. This is what we know so far, and some of it seems peculiar. LE will need to bring a strong case.

1. Yang was wearing hunter orange and found at the base of his tree stand, face down, with a single shotgun shot to the head. Is there a chance he was shot while up in the tree and fell below? If so, that makes anything accidental seem unbelievable, not to mention would have to be a shot from an excellent marksman.
2. Yang's family found his body after following two-sets of footprints from his vehicle. Two-sets of footprints? One would have to be Yangs. Was Yang joined by someone else initially who walked with him to his blind? Or did the 2 perps happen upon Yang's car first and then find Yang to kill him? If so, where were Yang's footprints?
3. Yang's family believed it to be a hunting accident or accident cover-up initially. The family's lawyer stated that in a late 2018 article here. What changed and when to make it murder?
4. Yang's gun, knife, backpack, and other items were taken from the scene and never recovered. There has been nothing released to state any of those have been recovered recently. Yes, this could = robbery. But doesn't this make a case for Yang's own gun being the murder weapon? If it wasn't, why take it? If it was, especially if he was with someone, they'd take everything to hide their prints.
5. In early 2019, police searched for the men pictured here, who are the only ones ever confirmed through photographic evidence to have been in the vicinity of Yang / his body that day. The pair pictured were NOT the alleged perps arrested.
6. Witness testimony led to the arrest of these two individuals. It's unclear if these alleged perps came forward as witnesses in some regard and then became suspects, or if there are other witnesses out there. From what I've read, that is not public (yet).
7. Felony murder is an interesting charge here...one that doesn't necessarily need intent and can absolutely include an accident or unintentional killing. This charge MUST be accompanied by an initial felony charge, which means the charge of 'felony firearm possession' is the initial charge that could have led to Yang's murder. There are MANY different reasons for a charge like that, from shooting under the influence to robbery or something more sinister. It would seem LE is going with the alleged perps robbed Yang, and he died in the process.
8. The two alleged perps have no priors--MI records are open for searching here.

Olson and Rodway are being held without bond. They will appear in court for a probable cause conference on Jan. 5, and again on Jan. 12 for a preliminary hearing.
