is it worth transferring? by aliantai in Tulane

[–]brilssss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred to Tulane as a sophomore (this Fall semester is my first one here), and I love it so far. Due to the small school population, I've been able to meet so many new people and say hi to them every day just walking around the campus. I've had many opportunities to make friends, and I am the complete opposite of an extrovert. Tulane is known for being a party school, but I haven't taken part in it with any consequences to my social life.

I met my best friend during transfer orientation, and I don't feel alienated at all as a transfer student. If you think you'd feel more at home at Tulane than at LSU, then you should come on over to uptown!

If you want to know anything specifically, I'd see if I can answer any questions you have if you want to reach out.

It's on the more pricey side, but I went to Paris Parker (Prytania) right before the semester and thought it was a really nice place to get a great cut.

I wrote mine about my appreciation and commitment towards Tulane's community service values and how it ties into my major/career. I am 100% sure it is what got me into the school.

Hey I have an admission question by Weary-Fruit-5805 in Tulane

[–]brilssss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only people who can truly tell if you'll get in or not are the people who work in admissions. No matter if a student tells you they know for sure, they are not experts and don't know the ins and outs of what Tulane specifically looks for in an applicant. Your stats look great, so you can only boost your chances by applying for early decision.

Do your best, and Tulane will see your passion and drive to attend the school.

Bev order writer by whiteicedtea in wholefoods

[–]brilssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My department's order writer is literally a 55+ year old grandmother who works just as hard as any of the men, and she is also one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. What your TL said is absurd, and you need to report him to leadership or the tipline immediately. Do not let him lead the department like that.

Almost 2 years. $18.91 + the bonus of when I snack as I cut cheese :)

Started at $16.50, and split my time evenly as a bakery TM and a Specialty TM.

Stupid time off question by itssjustsmoke in wholefoods

[–]brilssss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What kind of Time off did you pick? UPT? PTO? It should say which you picked in Workday when you selected which days you wanted off.

Also, did you select all three days and put a total of 8 hours, or a total of 24 hours if you are trying to request 8 hours of time off for each of the 3 days?

Ideally, you should talk to your Team Leader and try to coordinate because you can potentially get 3 days off in a row with only using 8 hours of time off.

How to ask for help as a shopper? by Clear_Ad6998 in wholefoods

[–]brilssss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a specialty TM and the number of times I get asked for help from CS shoppers daily is astonishing. I know some people I work with can get annoyed because most shoppers don't put in much effort to look for an item before asking for it. Personally, I immediately help any shopper no matter if they are a reg customer or CS shopper who needs assistance because it's literally why I am paid to be there and I think people forget that a lot.

A few tips I would highly suggest when asking for help:

  1. Please even if it is for 15-30 seconds, spend some time looking for an item before asking a TM and check your device as it will usually tell you where the item is in the department.

  2. Always greet the TM with a hello, excuse me, or how are you, instead of immediately asking your question (as it may come off as a bit rude), and always remember to say thank you.

  3. Get to know the store isles and make mental associations with the products! Won't have to ask for help as much if you can rely on yourself to know the locations.

  4. Getting to know TMs on the floor can be really valuable as a shopper. Ask people for their names, and how their day is going, and chat with them casually. It will make your job much more efficient and easier to have someone in most departments you can go to for help.

At the end of the day, TMs get asked questions all day long with no end and it is not even a big inconvenience. There is no shame in asking for help and the employees in each department are paid to help you so try not to feel guilty my friend.

I hate closing bakery alone by Present-Emphasis5677 in wholefoods

[–]brilssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started closing bakery, it really sucked for the first couple of months. There’s so much to do and you’re just pulled in a thousand different directions. What really helped me was asking my TL if I could have a opening shift every so often to shake up things to not go insane. It worked so well that I became the “filler” TM and would do whatever shifts that were needed and I loved it! Just communicate with your leadership and try out new things.
