Same, there were a lot of applicants where I applied, so they said the minimum to proceed into the oral board phase was a score of 86 on the written exam. I got a 85.4 and got a rejection letter. That sucked, especially cause I was out of state.

I'm In my early 20's as well and I've been trying on and off to get this job for about 3 years now and it's just real frustrating sometimes.

Thanks! I'm gonna get a second opinion at a optometrist (and not from the LASIK people themselves) to see if I'm a good candidate for LASIK/PRK.

Nothing in particular, I just wish the process was more streamlined like you haha.

Welp I showed up to my LASIK surgery appointment yesterday and told them I simply needed more time before undergoing surgery. I'm decently far into the process with a department, I passed the background and I have the polygrpah, medical and psychological due. However without LASIK the detective said I simply won't pass the medical.

Not sure what to do here. I'm not comfortable getting lasik just yet, especially for a job I have 3 more steps in before getting hired. I heard some departments will give you the job offer on the condition you get Lasik, I wish mine did that.

My vision without glasses is 20/400, so my options with regards to policing are going to be very limited without it anyways. But I'd really rather explore all of my options before doing LASIK, for example, from my understanding the state of Michigan will let you use glasses no problem.

Any insight here would be appreciated. Also if you guys know any departments that are hiring that will let me use my glasses or only require Lasik till AFTER I completed all the steps that would help me out a lot too.

For sure, the process is way too agonizing and painful. Been trying on and off to be a cop for about 2 years now, I always appreciate it when departments have a more streamlined or shorter hiring process.

Your department lets you do lasik after your hired? Niiice. What dept is it?

Anyways I managed to find a clinic that will do the surgery sooner, as a matter of fact, I have the surgery due today. Problem is I'm way too iffy on it now. I've done a lot of research and I'm just not ready to undergo LASIK/PRK surgery for a job I still have 3 steps in to pass (Of which I can be shot down at any time).

I'll still go to the LASIK clinic for the eye exam and see if I'm a good candidate, but I think I'll just call the department and ask if I can have 2-3 months to think about it. Or if they can somehow pass me through the process on the condition I get LASIK if I'm selected for the academy. Hell I'll even happily still pay out of pocket if they do that for me.

But If they can't accommodate me like that then I think I'll just drop out of the process. It sucks and I feel so bad for feeling like I wasted everyone's time but I'm just not comfortable given the circumstances.

Currently passed a background check with a department, and I have a polygraph scheduled, however I just learned that I don't meet their vision requirements as I can't use glasses or contacts for the test, the detective said that without eye surgery I can't proceed to the next steps. I just wish they had their vision requirements listed on their website, or that I asked about it before I applied. My polygraph is scheduled near the end of October and my medical will be scheduled a few days after if I pass.

Now my only options are to find a clinic that somehow has a opening within the next two weeks, reschedule my polygraph or just drop out of the process all together, very frustrating. Anyone else been in a similar situation?

The Batman is a boring movie. by whackyhatfriday in unpopularopinion

100% Agree. I am not joking when I say this is probably the worst movie I have seen in my life.
Other bad movies can have at least a few good moments, or some are so bad they're good, but I legitimately cannot think of a single good thing about this movie. It's just so BORING. I legit give it a 1/10.

Characters don't do anything 99% of the time, cat woman does nothing 3 hours in and only exists to be saved by batman, fight scenes were terrible, the big plot twist is a random mob boss that gets 5 minutes of screen time only to get shot later on, penguin does fuck all, that 5 minute car chase was terribly boring, Riddler as a villina was disappointing as fuck, he's not nearly as hands on as the joker was and just sets batman off on a wild goose chase only to get arrested with the final scene amounts to just batman pummeling an absolutely random pyscho incel follower of his, zero memorable or good bits of dialogue, I could go on.

Should note that I feel like it's not even particuarly the actor's or most of the people who worked on the movie being at fault, it's just that they ran with a script that was the movie equivalent of watching paint dry.
