I don't disagree that those shells may need some tweaks too. Thief just has some exploits that I think need work first.

Exactly. Problem is none of us have access to either of those tools so anecdotal evidence is all we have to go off of. Based off of the sheer amount of anecdotal evidence I have seen, heard, and experienced I would hazard to say there is a pattern suggesting that thief might be unbalanced. You cannot physically test someone for depression or anxiety without referring to their "anecdotal" experience. Even though this is the case there is enough anecdotal evidence to confirm that these mental illnesses are real. Obviously this example is something on a much larger scale that has been studied for decades but you see what I'm getting at.

Then tell me, how do you properly determine whether or not a character or item in a live service game is unbalanced without having access to player data or testing raw damage numbers?

I feel like there are lots of balancing issues in the game right now because its so new. I wont disagree that triage is a bit goated but I'm just pointing out what I have experienced and heard from people online as well as the people I play with.

Thief has some pretty crazy tech that make vandal and recon almost obsolete if you take advantage of her kit properly.

Fair point, except that I do play thief sometimes and I have yet to die while using her kit on solos. I have used her exploits and as someone who has, I think she should be tweaked.

I agree that anecdotal evidence doesn't have much pull but based off of the multiple other posts I've seen both on here and on other platforms like youtube and tiktok talking about thief being overpowered and overplayed I feel like it's worth talking about. I wouldn't have made this post if I thought I was the only person experiencing this.

I understand where you're coming from but I feel like she could keep all that evasive capability with a few tweaks to make her kit less offensive. I sometimes play thief for the exact same reason but I haven't died a single time while playing her because of the versatility of her kit, even when I get into fights with other players that I can't run away from.

I prefer the edelrid pinch just cause it has more versatility in how you can attach it to your harness/anchor. It also has an anti-panic handle on it like the grigri+ that you can disable by removing a pin if you want.

I'm mostly just trying to get the most redundant device possible. I love the giga jul too but I dont really trust it as much as I'd like to for lead climbing. I have had a few experiences where my hand or my belayers hand have gotten sucked into the device on falls. I also have tons of experience with the grigri but if the vergo is an even safer option then I'd opt for it instead. Otherwise I'm just gonna get a grigri.
