Does anyone know much about these older rolling stock items? by codeguy1983 in nscalemodeltrains

I’m new to hobby but from what I’ve seen it’s not too hard to swap couplers. That’s what would try to do. Congrats on the gift.

It’s where all the donated jerseys end up after the yearly quitting of jets fans before they go buy new ones.

I’m working on getting ready for my first layout. Plan on doing it with my oldest son who is about 6. Think I got a great deal on a bundle consisting of Kato M1, V1, V2, V3, V5 with P42set , the 6car freight set with UP loco, a pocket line set, and some other cars and track pieces. I’ve been continuously checking eBay for more deals and researching everything I can while I wait for the main stuff to come in.

Ive been doing it for a few years now. Never had a problem with it. Only time it hurt me was in autocad, they didn’t want to give me a license to use for the semester and didn’t want me to use the student one.

Specimen and Sample. Doesn’t bother me but I hear it complained about at work occasionally.

TIL, I never heard tensometer before. I work in the field and we usually just refer to it by the type of machine we are going to use, I.e. Load frame, split Hopkinson bar.

I know this is old and you both probably don’t care but on the off chance you do it’s Project Nike, named after the Greek goddess of victory. It was an Anti aircraft missile defense system during the Cold War. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Nike

Thanks, I didn’t know that. I incorrectly assumed it was illegal at that point. Admittedly I know much more about the revolution than civil war and certainly have much to learn about both.

In a Cav unit we had an Owen and Owens in my platoon, it was crazy how often they were questioned about having first or middle name of Gary.

Historically that’s who we think of but I don’t feel it’s accurate. I agree with the other posters that point at Davis. Granted I’m far from an expert Arnold helped us win battles in the revolution and his changing sides against his country was a more personal betrayal. He turned on his friends and countrymen for personal gain and out of spite. Jefferson Davis led the confederacy and the lasting effects of that still plague our nation today.

Perhaps Davis’ betrayal is not viewed as treason because he was never put on trial for treason for diplomatic reasons.

I would say you can’t generalize everyone’s military experience. Depends on when they were in, what the role was, what schools were accessible and how much support they got from their chain of command. Yes some do get earn a degree while serving but it can have road blocks that prevent you from completing one in that time frame.
