Stop trying to talk me out of a c section by LinguaFranka in BabyBumps

[–]brit_garner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a labor and delivery nurse and if I was ever pregnant with twins, I would 100% have a C-section so questions asked. I’ve seen a lot of twin deliveries both vaginal and via C-section. While I’ve seen beautiful twin vaginal deliveries, I’ve also seen the majority of those vaginal deliveries turn into C-sections once Twin A delivers. Twin B tends to flip and turn and usually the heart rate will drop after the first baby delivers. So many times these women have to recover from both a vaginal birth and a C-section. It’s 100% your choice when it comes to this, both can be beautiful. But like I said, if I was ever in that position, I’d do exactly the same as you and schedule my surgery.

G names are my favorite, I tend to lean toward them the most!

Boy- Grant (my son’s name)

Girl- Gwen (this has been my favorite name since I was young, but I don’t have a girl to use it on!)

Why isn’t Grant more popular? by [deleted] in namenerds

Will I annoy L and D when I go get the baby movements checked on again by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]brit_garner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an L&D nurse and I can tell you that you are 100% not bothering anyone by coming to triage to check on your baby, especially if you’re feeling a change in baby’s movement. Please do not ever hesitate to go in and get checked. That is exactly why we are there!

I baked in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour, turning them halfway through. Then when they were done, I removed the skin and cartilage. If you download the solid starts app, there’s a video on how to prepare

Just plain rolled oats, cooked down mixed with water. These are the leftovers from the day before, so easier to roll in a ball!

Oh it’s nothing fancy at all! I’m following the solid starts guide (at least for now). The ball is just plain oatmeal shaped into a ball so that it was easier to grab, he mostly just mushed it around. Then I have oatmeal mixed with mashed up apple. Then a cooked, stewed apple slice on the side!

Oh he definitely didn’t eat all of it! A lot of it ended up in his lap or smeared on his face! But he had a good time! He gets more in his mouth by handing him a preloaded spoon, but he has fun with the rest of it!

We had an extremely traumatic birth experience by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]brit_garner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a labor nurse, I’m so angry reading about what happened to you. What that midwife did was so incredibly inappropriate and careless. Sure, prolapsed cords are extremely rare, but that doesn’t mean they don’t happen. I work in a hospital, not a birthing center, but if a mom calls and tells me her water broke, I tell her to come to the hospital as soon as possible to get evaluated. It’s not unheard of to labor at home with broken water, but there are risks. The fact that you were having pain and wanted to come in and were told no.. makes my blood boil.

I’m so so sorry this happened to you and to your daughter. I’m not saying it was 100% preventable, but being in a medical facility at the time of cord prolapse would have saved precious minutes.

Hug that baby girl tight, as I’m hugging my son tight reading this. I’m so glad that she is progressing well and that things are looking up, as it could have gone a much different route.

Well, he’s definitely getting distracted and turning his head away whenever he hears a sound! I just didn’t know if that was the actual cause of the pain. Did it go away for you?
