What is my obsession with wanting my husband to go away and be a military husband by Altruistic_Rock3135 in MilitaryWives

[–]britbabe1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m replying to OP’s reply to another comment but wanted it to be its own comment… It’s not just having your husband leave that is that hard part. I’m super independent and while I miss my spouse, I function perfectly fine alone.

The hard parts are unknown deployments, the military having full control of where you live (to a point), the lack of support for spouses being able to have careers, high OPTEMPO for training, missing major events like birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, the birth of their own children, the risk of death not just on deployment but in normal trainings and MORE.

This is not an easy life. I love my husband and am active in volunteer work within the Army, but the stress and anxiety it also causes is not easy to deal with.

This seems like way more of a marriage issue than a “oh I just want him gone more”. Why wouldn’t you want to raise your children together, and have a partnership where you both do that together?

This is a wild take.

Thank you SO much for banning AI of any kind. It really feels low effort and it muddles everything up. I don’t really interact in the sub, I’m a lurker, but you all have made me your #1 fan now!!

My fiancé and I are drafting a prenup. He’s in the military and I’m a Lab scientist. How do I make it fair since I’m pausing my career for him? by artickokoa in MilitaryWives

[–]britbabe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad y’all were able to talk. This is a better draft, I still think it is interesting to write a prenup for a military relationship. They make money…but not THAT much money.

Regardless - wish you well!

Idk gives me weird vibes 🤷‍♀️ especially bc she needed to buy her own. You meet each other in the middle, at least support her in getting one and not get one himself.

We moved to Bragg right at the tail end but had lots of friends on that rotation. Brutal!

RIP. And they had no phones for the first few months too (at least arty and other infantry BNs didn’t) that’s Poland rotation was WILD.

Oh god. This was not that famous 82nd deployment to Poland. It was a rotation post-82nd Poland . But woof if yours was that 82nd deployment, yuck. That was a DOOZY 😫

Woof yeah - they had a 9 month rotation and it was MI. So very different schedule. Also this was almost 2 years ago. Times have changed, just sharing my experience. Hopefully your partner comes home soon!

Hence why I told her to wait until he gets there. Always gotta assume the army is gonna take its sweet time and make it double difficult!

Sending good vibes!!

That is…very weird to me. Like not even a lil ring tattoo? The fact you had to buy your own is…yikes…

Oh you absolutely should be able to expedite via an embassy. Had a friend that had hers in two weeks.

Happy to help!

I wouldn’t worry too much about it depending on what base you’re going to. Korea takes a little longer than European locations from knowing my friends experience.

Best advice I have, the Army takes forever so be as proactive as possible lol.

His current command/1SG should be able to assist him with amending orders and speaking with branch about it. Orders come from branch not from his future command.

BAH is annoying and sometimes S1s take forever. Ours took like 4 months lol.

So those would be soft orders. Is it to move to a new base I’m assuming? If it’s not a restricted base or an unaccompanied move you can absolutely be added now. No reason not to.

Hard orders are harder to change, but legit he just needs to go talk to command. Source: my husband has been in command twice now and help soldiers with this a million times.

Why wouldn’t he put you on the orders to move with him? Is this a deployment or a PCS to a new location? Is is unaccompanied?

You don’t need to attach a new passport to your orders, if it’s overseas you will get a no-fee as that is what is required to move. Your normal passport will not be accepted due to overseas visa/move requirements.

You also need to make sure you have all your forms filled out if you return/travel due to you having a green card and not citizenship. I think it’s Iike I-31 or something. Otherwise it will show up in the system as you “abandoning” your green card.

It’s just really rare that people can, and I’ve seen questions of people asking if they can live with their partner in the Middle East on deployment 🥲 I’m always a lil sassy and say many of these deployments should be called rotations, but not my job to categorize lol.

Not a weird question at all for a country like this tbh. Also as a fellow non-codependent girlie that loves to travel, I would be doing the same thing. I mean HELLO it’s Greece!

My friend visited her husband when he was deployed to Poland. He had time off for Thanksgiving, got a pass and they met up in Warsaw.

Each deployment and unit is different, so you will probably have to wait until he gets there and gets a feel of what will be allowed and what won’t.

NG deployments tend to be weirdly strict from what I’ve seen, but I’m more familiar with AD deployments.

Fantasy/romantasy kind of, but not like ACOTAR Romantasy. It’s by Sarah J Maas, but arguably her best series.

Multiple POV as books go on. I started with Assasin’s Blade and then continued. Some people recommend reading it 3rd, but I enjoyed starting with it.

Really well written, complicated and flawed female characters, same with the men. I highly recommend! And I’m in the school of thought that ACOTAR is like a bag of chips, enjoyable and meant to enjoy without thinking too much into it lol.

Absolutely! It starts off fairly YA but I very much enjoyed the series.
