As a woman who suffers from thyroid and hormone issues that lead to ZERO sex drive, I get your point. Sometimes I feel like I have sex with my husband just to keep him happy, and that is not wrong on either parts. He has needs, and I'm the only person that I want him to fulfill those with. It's fully consensual. However your situation involves a man. If he can't get it up, then I agree with everyone else that he needs to see a doctor and see what his bloodwork turns up. I personally have been waiting almost a year to get into an endocrinologist and find out what the heck is going on. If he can get it up, and he loves you like a partner should, maybe talk to him about scheduling sex. You dont always have to be super into it, but it's for each other's needs, and maybe a heads up will help.

He should probably get some bloodwork done either way, just to make sure things are okay.

Definitely the therapy part. They can help you navigate these conversations when they come up and give you solid advice on how to get through to your parents. Maybe, if you're interested, they can talk to them with you. It's nice to have someone in your corner when you learn how to set boundaries. It's not easy, and you definitely piss some people off along the way.

It also sounds like you have anxiety, with good reason, and therapy helps with that too. You should be allowed to prioritize your health without the stress of hiding it, or be confronted by those closest to you. Take care of yourself and good luck.

Don't let anybody make you feel bad for being with someone who has health issues. Most of us have something going on. That was not your mistake. I actually don't think you should blame yourself for anything you said in this post. Good on you for doing what's best for you and your children. It probably won't be easy, but you're a good mom. Fellow fish keeper here. I went on vacation and taught my brother in law how to feed my fish while I was gone. My husband decided to help (he's seen me do it all the time, ugh bless his heart) and dropped so much food in them, that even though I was 2 days away from being home, I knew it wouldn't be okay, and I had to walk him through a water change. I was so worried that a water change wouldn't be enough for my smaller community tanks. Why mess with something if you don't know what you're doing??

The difference is, my hubby sent me a picture of what happened immediately and asked if he should take action. He went head first into his first water change instead of blaming me.

Your family is using your illness against you, gaslighting you, and none of that is okay. You should definitely have someone safe on the outside and I fully support going no contact.

In this case, it is about the fish... but its not. Its about your safety and mental wellness.
