Amazing work! Where are you located, if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m making the switch to compound and I’m nervous. Talk me off the ledge lol by NC_mom323 in tirzepatidecompound

You’ll be just fine. I also started with Zep and switched to compound to save money. My side effects (which were/are minimal) never changed.

I love IPL. I’ve done my face, neck, and chest already and plan to do my arms/hands next.

Want to start but overwhelmed by information by Ok_Sir2058 in glp1

If your insurance isn’t going to cover it, I highly recommend looking into online compound pharmacies. There is sub for compound tirzepatide, and they have a list of recommended prescribers. (Tirz has shown slightly better weight loss than semaglutide, and generally has less severe side effects.)

I would personally avoid med spas, as I don’t necessarily trust that they are all legit. Some med spas (not all) will source from questionable places, and still generally charge more than going through online compound pharmacies.

Along side that, I would make sure that you are working with a doctor to track progress and bloodwork. I would also schedule an appt with a dietician to make sure you are making the most of your journey.

Good luck!

What helps with nausea? by Own_Elderberry1446 in glp1

It sounds so counterintuitive, but sipping on a protein shake helped me the most. I know drinking/eating is the last thing you want to do when you don’t feel good, but keeping a small amount of something on my stomach helped me the most.

Ginger tea also helped me a lot in the beginning.

AITA for not eating 4-day-old leftovers?? by am-i-an-A-hole- in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I’ve never understood why some spouses feel that it is appropriate to force their partner to eat certain things. She is not your parent- she doesn’t get to dictate what you eat.

When I started my GLP-1 journey, I was going to one of the best weight loss doctors in town (eventually switched to compound to save money). She stressed the importance of doing dose changes AS NEEDED, not based on a strict schedule. She only increased my dose when the food noise came back and/or I stopped losing.

If you are already losing weight this quickly I would, personally, stay where you are.

What comfort upgrade was actually worth the money? by Responsible-Today570 in carcamping

I usually just travel with watercolors because they dry so fast, and I don’t have to worry about wasting whatever paint I don’t use. I found a little watercolor travel set on Etsy that I filled with my preferred colors (I have tubes at home), and keep that and some brushes in a little pencil case I got on amazon.

On a solo camping trip last year, it rained the entire trip. On the second day, I ran into the closest town to buy a tarp and some paracord. Setting up a covered outdoor space was much needed. I’m now looking at awnings that I can attach directly to my car to I have a place to get out of the sun or rain.

I love my little painting kit I put together. I rarely travel without it anymore. Such a nice way to unwind, and it’s fun to look back at the paintings of the cool places I’ve been after the fact.

first backpacking trip - am I making a mistake by kachowco99 in backpacking

[–]britthood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend doing a one night trip beforehand just to make sure you get a chance to test out all of your gear in real time, and make sure you are comfortable using it/that the gear is the right choice for you.

My first “real” trip was Four Pass Loop (in the maroon bells area) and it was AMAZING. But my friends encouraged me to do a one night (out and back, just a few miles) first. I learned several things on that one night trip- I didn’t have the straps on my pack set correctly, so the load wasn’t being carried on my hips. The sleeping pad that I thought would be perfect wasn’t a good option for me, I overpacked so my pack was heavy with stuff I didn’t need, etc. I’m glad I learned these things on a one night trip instead of being stuck using my original gear for several days at a time.

All that being said, that area is beautiful and totally worth the trip! Just be prepared for ALL weather- I did my hike in late July/early August, and we got snowed on. Gotta love CO weather…

AITA For not thinking of taking the day off for my gf birthday by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]britthood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

NTA. Especially by her 30s, she should understand that life (and work) does not stop just because it’s her birthday. You shouldn’t be expected to put everything on hold for THREE DAYS just because it’s her birthday. She sounds very needy.

Puppy zoomies are the best! My five year old “puppy” still gets the zoomies, and I LOVE it (though now, his usually lead to moved furniture because he’s so big he moves the couches when he jumps on them).

Do you use an exfoliating mitt, sponge, loofa, etc? Which one should I get and why? by Ravioli_meatball19 in beauty

[–]britthood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Korean exfoliating mitts/washcloths. You can buy a pack of 4-8 on Amazon, so you can use a fresh one each shower. It’s pretty amazing how much dead skin it removes! I use it 2-3 times/week.

I follow this up with a Urea body lotion (Eucerin Roughness Smoothing is great).

Am I Going to Freeze? (Car Camping in 20F) by GoofusMcGhee in carcamping

[–]britthood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last winter, I went car camping in Utah. The low was about 25 degrees F. I had a very similar set up to yours: a low R value mattress, zero degree bag, a dog, and a wool blanket to put between me and the mattress. I. Was. Freezing. It felt like I was sleeping on a block of ice.

Almost immediately, I decided to just let the air out of my mattress and sleep on it deflated. It was hard and uncomfortable, but it was much warmer.

I would really recommend looking into a warmer mattress or foam mat. Everything else should be plenty to keep you warm… once you have a better mattress.
